Alan watched as reality chugged along, struggling to explain a 16 year old girl with the mind of a newborn. After a few seconds, the shift started to focus in as Melissa's clothes began to warp. Her top and bottom merged into a onesie as it turned bright pink. Her hair grew curlier and even more unruly as a pink little bow appeared on top. Her makeup vanished along with her bra, while her panties morphed into a fairly noticeable diaper beneath the onesie.
As she cried on the floor, a teacher who had been walking near her stopped and suddenly started to look panicked.
"Oh no Melissa!" She cried. "Are you okay? What's the matter? Babba? Or maybe binky?"
Alan walked up confused. He had no idea how reality changed and was trying to figure it out when the teacher turned and noticed him.
"Oh thank God, Donaldson." She sighed. "You've helped her and her family out before right?" She asked.
"Uh, yeah, I have!" Alan lied confused.
"Good, good. I'm no good with helping her. Could you take her down to the nurses office? I'll call her parents." She said as she walked off.
Alan wanted to stop her but she was already on the phone and halfway down the hall. He looked down to see the teen still quietly crying to herself with her legs sprayed on the floor. She looked up to him with a sad stare and sniffled. Alan's heart skipped a beat. He still felt bad that he changed her and all, but she looked adorable.
Alan awkwardly lifted her up by the butt. He carried her down the hall with all his strength. Mellissa, meanwhile, had seemed to calm down at the sight of Alan, and was now cozily leaning on his shoulder. As Alan walked down the hall, people are looking now and then, but nobody seemed to notice anything crazy about what was happening. Some of Mellissa's friends even walked by and none of them even looked at them.
They arrived at the nurses office and Alan greeted the nurse with an awkward smile. She sighed.
"I knew it wasn't a good idea to try and bring her here. Her condition isn't one that can be reversed." The nurse said upset. She walked over, picked up Mellissa and laid her on one of the beds. "Thank you for bringing her in Alan, you've always been helpful to my niece."
Alan was now even more confused than he was before, but he knew he needed to play along as best he could.
"Of course ma'am. I'm always around to help Mellissa."
The nurse laughed. "Mellissa. You usually call her Lissa. You trying to act all serious around me and distance yourself from her?" She asked stoically.
"Uh, no! No I wou- um, sorry I-" He fumbled.
"Relax Alan, I'm only teasing you." She laughed. "You're a family friend to the Browns and always will be."
"A family friend to the Browns?!" He thought. "I only ever met Mellissa! But I guess I'm closer to them now. I gotta find out more but I can't give it away that I have no idea what's going on... other wise they'll think I'm crazy or something."
"So, uh... why did they even take her into school?" He asked, trying to find out more than he was questioning.
"Well," She sighed. "As you know Babitus is a powerful mental disease. Once you get it, you loose every memory you've ever had since birth. You can never remember anything ever again, and you're essentially a baby who can only vaguely remember familiar people for the rest of you life." She started sadly as she tickled the gurgling Mellissa. "I guess they were just hoping to see if showing her anything familiar would jog... something."
Now Alan really felt awful. He not only reduced Melissa to the mental ability of an infant, but he emotionally scared her entire family! In Alan's mind, that settled it. He knew he had to fix this somehow. The only question was, what did he have to do?
