Damon and Monica laid on the bed, giving their bodies rest after everything that happened.
The merprince looked to his side see Monica looking up, looking a bit worried.
“Hey, I know how you feel.. I haven’t been in this kingdom for years. It’s going to be a learning experience for both of us” Damon said.
“It’s not just that, Damon. I’m more worried about our relationship.”, Monica said, turning her head to her boyfriend.
“Oh? What’s wrong, Monica?”, Damon questioned.
“Well… To tell you the truth, when I came up to your apartment on land, I really wanted the both of us to tie the knot and live a peaceful life with kids.” Monica looked away in shame. “But now something doesn’t… Feel right with our relationship now. You’re a merman prince of a loving kingdom and I’m…. Just an unremarkable human girl trying to be a mermaid.” Monica sighed, not expecting Damon to understand.
Damon wrapped his arm around Monica, “I’m sorry for not telling about my merman past earlier. I really tried to keep it a secret for the both of us. I really did enjoy spending time with you as a human. It’s my fault that I wasn’t honest with you after all these years.” Damon spoke. “I’m such an idiot…” he sighed.
“No, it was me that came into your apartment without permission. You had every right to keep that a secret. I was just… so stupid to come into your home like that.” Monica sniffed as her eyes watered. “I’m sorry, I’m just really overwhelmed with all this. Don’t blame yourself, Damon. I’m sure we can work through this together.”
Damon hugged Monica again. “Don’t worry, Monica, we will,” he said as stroked Monica’s hair. “We’re in this together. I know the noise of royalty will be hard to get used to at first, but you’ll get used to it with me.”
Monica wiped her eyes. “Really?”
Damon nodded. “Yes. I promise you’ll love being a mermaid here. Just think of how grand our wedding will be once we get married. We're going to have kids and start a family with everything we need. It's going to be great.”
Monica started to feel better and smiled. “Thank you, Damon. I’m glad I met you.”
“Me too.”, Damon said as he comforted his girlfriend. “I love you, Monica.”
“I love you, too, Damon.”
The couple eventually slept together in an embrace. They both have a big day with the kingdom tomorrow, but they knew that they had each other.
