The door is pushed open, revealing Jerry and Amy, both still looking rather displeased.
Amy pushes past Jerry into the room. "Are you bulling your little brothers? You should know better. Jerry, I'm telling you, we're losing him."
"Oh my God, Amy. We're not losing him. You're still over-reacting. Calm down and..."
This obviously was the wrong thing to say in response to her concerns, because she spun back towards Jerry. "Calm down? Calm down! I will calm down when I know that our son is not going down the wrong path. Now, what do you boys think about being home schooled?"
"Amy! This is insane, y-"
Suddenly, both of them start to shimmer and both give confused expressions before being obscured by light. When the light clears, there's two items on the floor where Mr. and Mrs. Bell had been standing a moment before: two bone-shaped dog treats.
Before you could properly react, Pat trotted over and leaned down to chomp on the dog treat that had formerly been Mrs. Bell, the German shepherd crunching down the treat with obvious joy, his tail wagging behind him.
You turn back to Levi and Lincoln, the keys now on the floor between them. Both are looking about the room in confusion. "Where did mom and dad go?" Lincoln asked.
Thankfully, they'd not made the connection between the dog treats and their parents and the fact that their dog had just ate their mom. You needed to get the other dog treat before Jerry w-
You hear further crunching sounds. You slowly turn to find Keith had come into the room, perhaps to investigate the commotion, perhaps to investigate the crunching of a dog treat. In any case, he now licked his chops, having eaten the second dog treat, all that remained of Mr. Bell being some crumbs on the carpet. You stare in horror at the two happy dogs. Neither of them knew better, they were just two normal dogs who were happy for an unexpected treat. Yes, you didn't like Jerry and Amy all that much, but you didn't want this.
You picked up the keys before either Levi or Lincoln could refocus on messing with them again. There must be a way to fix this. Wait. Would reality shift? Would you turn into a dog treat too? You froze, waiting. Nothing happened. Nothing changed.
Still, you felt you needed to do something. You looked at the two German shepherds, who have scampered over to play with Levi and Lincoln. You finally had the keys back, but what were you going to do with them?
