The first thing Janet noticed when her sight came back to her was her size. Previously, the 'baby seat' she had been sitting in was resized to comfortably fit a grown woman. Now, sadly, she immediately realized the seat was normal sized. She lifted her hand, and only saw a pudgy little baby arm. She managed to look into the rearview mirror, and realized she now was what she saw, a young baby.
As Janet began to cry, the rest of the family began to panic as well. Megan started tearing up as she examined her middle aged body, while Alan frustratingly grabbed his new beer belly. Steve was the most frustrated as he now realized he had lost all possibility of respect. He was now nothing more than a child again.
"I told you this would happen!" Alan yelled.
''No you didn't! You just weren't sure if it would work!" Megan snapped back, both of them shocked by their new authoritative voices.
"I'm a little kid!" Steve screamed louder than either of them as Janet could only cry.
After a few minutes of arguing, they all became silent. As if in sync, they all realized how pointless their arguing was. Suddenly, they all felt a wave pass over them. It felt like a minor version of the light. Alan looked back to make sure the book hadn't been opened and sure enough it hadn't been touched.
"What was that honey?" Megan asked.
"I'm not sure baby, must've been nothing-" Alan replied when he realized what he had called Megan, and what she called him. "Uh, Megan, what's going on?" Alan asked.
"I want a cookie!" Steve yelled behind them.
Alan and Megan looked back to see Steve equally looking freaked out with his hands over his mouth. He obviously had meant to say something else, and was no afraid of talking at all. Janet was also still mentally fine, but her body betrayed her as she babbled and sucked on her toes.
"Oh dear, it appears that we're normal again and everything is fine!" Megan yelled with a twitch in her eyes.
"Yeah, you're my wife. I mean my wife... oh geez look you all know what I mean." Alan said more frustrated than ever. "look, I say we drive home and get this straightened out, agreed?" He asked.
The family just nodded as Alan started up the car and drove off. They arrived about a half an hour later. The family sadly and quietly walked into the house. They all walked around, and were shocked to discover more had changed. Their house and all their possessions had changed with the new family. There were baby bottles on the counter, childish toys scattered on the floor, and all the photos hanging on the walls only showed the changed family.
"Just as I feared." Alan sighed under his breath. "The entire world changed with us."
