"Jay, get ready for dinner downstairs!" Hollered a motherly voice from the other part of the house. "Just leave your coding assignment for later!"
"Okay Mom! I'll come down in a minute!" Pressing the CTRL S combo, the lanky young adult named Jay Reece stood up and walked to his mirror. Taking the comb, he remade his hair to a more cleaner, wavy style.
"Good enough for my semester break look I suppose" Nodding at his 5'5 and made up reflection, he turned towards the exit from his room, went through the doorway and turned right to the flight of stairs and made his way to the dinner table.
The rest of the night he spent unable to sleep, partly thinking about his procrastination on his coding assignment and partly about the recent surge of an incurable virus that ends the victim in a completely new body, but left the mind slightly altered to accommodate the body.
Jay spent thinking more of the latter. He was worried and curious about it. More and more humans were getting infected and there were no discernable pattern that had emerged. Different states were getting bursts of random infection. Common victims were usually the clueless or ignorant ones. Uncommonly were the prideful ones that believed that their natural immune system boosted with essential oils and natural remedies could stave off the infection. They were the most upset and regretful.
But rarely were the ones that noticed it and acted quick. Those were the ones that was able to reduce the severity of their transformation. They were unfortunately still transformed, but they were the ones that retained their bipedal stance.
His rapid thinking stopped when he unknowingly fell asleep.
