Jay wakes up the next morning feeling refreshed, checking the bedside clock that reads 8:49 AM. He plopped back onto the bed in the usual morning jetlag before fully waking up a minute after.
"No need to sleep in. Gotta visit Lance on my second day of the semester break!" Jay prepared for his morning routine. Taking a bath, dressing up in casuals and then making up his bed, before going downstairs for self-made breakfast. Upon reaching the kitchen Jay looked at the table to see his mom's usual daily notes she always left whenever she left for work and there was a loved one at home. Jay took a short glance at it before preparing his breakfast.
"Jay I'm off to work for today, not gonna be home till 8. I packed some last night's leftover for Lance in the fridge."
Opening up the fridge, the package for Lance was immediately noticed considering its massive size. Taking it out and placing it on the table, Jay left it for the orange juice.
Locking the house with the package in hand, Jay took the shortcut to Lance's house that he remembered. The asphalt road was warm under his Nikes and Jay was honestly liking how it felt. Taking a few pit stops at certain shops for snacks and drinks, including a pack of onigiri before his phone buzzed. Jay took out his phone and noticed the message from Lance.
"You coming?" Jay smiled a bit. He knew that he had messaged Lance on the first day of his semester break because he's the first friend he'd ever meet up first. Jay replied to the message.
"Yeah be patient ya bull." Continuing on, he walked towards his friend's home.
Jay stopped at a quaint yellow house with a nice lawn. Stone steps led to the front door made of mahogany, with flamigos and gnomes decorating the garden of petunias and roses. Jay sighed at the now changed lawn from before. But thankfully not much had changed after all this time. Knocking the door, Jay heard a gruff voice answer.
"Coming!"
The door rattled a bit with the locks being unlocked before the door swings open to reveal his friend Lance the nerd. Correction, the former nerd.
The person that had opened the door was a minos. Or more accurately, a minotaur. "Jay Reece my man!"
"Lance Harriot!" Jay reached out with his hands for a fistbump, and Lance replied with the secret handshake. "Still got it I see!"
"Yep!" Lance chuckled a bit, before moving aside. "Come on in!"
Jay took the invitation and walked inside, his mom's package and the plethora of snacks he had bought taken by his massive beast of a friend. Jay took another look at his friend again, noting the increased height and the grown horns adorning his head. "How tall are you now by the way?"
Lance turned to Jay after he had deposited the gifts, a confused look on his bullish face before the question was realized. "Oh! I checked myself every week so I'm 7'6 now."
Jay whistled in astonishment. "That's cool! How tall are you gonna get?" Jay moved aside to let the minotaur walk past, before he sat on the reinforced couch. "Because I read in D&D that they could get up to 2.2 meters."
"Dunno, don't care. I don't even work out and I still grow." Lance scooched aside when Jay sat next to him, a prepared bowl of snacks ready for gluttonous consumption and the next hour of stomachache. "Still a nerd after all."
"Yep! A bull with a computer for a brain, what luck." Both Jay and Lance laughed in good humour and continued playing the magic game on his PS4.
It was already night time, and currently Jay was thinking about the virus on his temporary bed in Lance's room. The big bull was already asleep and thankfully wasn't a snorer. Lance unfortunately slept naked, his body not suited for it. Neither he nor the bull cared about it though.
The virus doesn't stay in the body when it had done its job. When the human was fully transformed after its 2 day duration, they are checked for any traces of the virus in their body. Lance was transformed just a year ago, and he was deemed Monster Virus free. There were only a few that became carriers, humans and monsters that hasn't and has transformed that could bring along the virus in their body.
Despite the close contact with Lance the Minotaur, Jay knew he would be okay. Lance was a good guy, taking blood tests every week before any of his friends visit for their safety. Not that he had many friends from his status as a nerd and his new minotaur body.
Therefore, Lance was grateful to have Jay as his friend.
Jay went to sleep, unafraid.
"I mean, who would be afraid with the guardian of a labyrinth on his side?"
A Guardian of A Labyrinth indeed.
