“I’ll see what I can do,” Jillian says, “though I’ll admit I’m no where near Jack’s level yet, and I’ve never had to reverse one of these older costumes myself, but it should work pretty similarly to the rest of the merchandise, right?” The question was more to herself than you. She picks you up and carries you to the back of the warehouse area of the shop.
The two of you come to a non-descript door, which Jillian opens to reveal a sort of workshop. You see tables covered in books and loose paper with various notes and drawings, as well as a couple of cupboards, shelves, and scattered pieces of costumes all over the room.
Jillian sets you down on one of the tables while rifling through several books and binders. She mutters to herself under her breath as she reads and considers and then marks a page in a notebook that she takes with her. She moves with a bit of nervous energy as she grabs several things from different drawers and shelves, double checking her book several times in the process. Unable to contribute or even do much of anything else, you’re content to sit and watch.
Eventually Jillian seems to have everything set up. She’s laid out a cloth with an intricate, geometric pattern inlaid in it on the floor, with a couple mysterious pouches and crystals placed on points around the exterior of the pattern. She finally returns her attention to you, picking you up and placing you on a spiral in the center.
“Okay, so… It should help things along if you’re mentally engaged in the process as well,” she explains. “Just try to focus on the idea of how you were before – your face, head, shoulders, body, legs, feet, whatever. Just think of how your body used to feel. Any detail should help guide the process.”
She then steps back off of the cloth and stiffens in preparation. In one hand, she holds the book open to the page she was working from before. In the other, she brandishes a sort of gnarled stick that you suppose is a wand of some kind. She mouths something silently as she focuses on the page with a furrowed brow. With a deep breath, she looks back to you and asks, “Ok, are you ready?”
You nod and then focus on what she told you, trying to remember details of your body. Jillian twirls the wand around in precise motions while uttering noises from a strange guttural language that’s unlike any you’ve ever heard, reading the incantation from the book she holds. Soon, you feel the strange sensations across your body of the magic starting to work as the spell changes you…
