When Edwin opened his eyes, he saw that the Chronivac was in one piece once again. He looked around. Thankfully, everyone and everything was back to normal. Nobody seemed to have remembered when they had been changed either. Edwin breathed a heavy sigh of relief.
"That was too close for comfort," Gabriel said. He still hadn't let go of Edwin's hand.
"I think you can let go now, Gabriel," Edwin said. "Let's go take this back to our apartment, okay?"
"Sounds good," Gabriel agreed. "But do I have to let go of your hand? You know I like holding it."
"I know you do," Edwin said. "But I need two hands to carry this thing. I don't want to drop it and have to go through that all over again."
"Fine," Gabriel moaned. Edwin rolled his eyes at his boyfriend. They had been dating for two years now, and it still felt like the honeymoon stage for them. But Gabriel was especially cute when he always seemed to swoon a little whenever he looked at Edwin. That fact may or may not be the sole reason why Edwin tries to build even more muscle. But nobody could ever get him to admit that.
Edwin gingerly and carefully picked up the Chronivac. When he was certain it wasn't going to break apart in his hands, he nodded to Gabriel. The pair walked in the direction of their shared apartment just across the street from campus. They talked about what had just transpired.
"I'm soooo glad I'm a man again," Gabriel groaned happily. He ran a hand through his short brown hair. "Don't get me wrong. Being a woman was...interesting, to say the least. Plus, I got to see you as an eleven-year-old. You were pretty cute and so small." He nudged Edwin with his elbow.
Edwin chuckled heartily, "Yeah, but you were kind of cute as a little girl, too."
Gabriel rolled his eyes. "Did you have to turn me into an eleven-year-old girl? Why couldn't you have turned me back into a boy at least?"
"Maybe I wanted to see your reaction to it," Edwin suggested cheekily. "Didn't think you'd break the Chronivac though."
"Blame my inner girl child, I guess," Gabriel grumbled. He placed an arm around Edwin's middle. His head only came up to Edwin's shoulder. "But I do think it's funny that through all of the randomization the Chronivac could have done to us, it made us still have a romantic relationship."
"I guess there's some things the Chronivac can't change," Edwin said happily. He kissed Gabriel's forehead. Gabriel smiled in response.
