Monica smiled as she felt the morning sun touch her eyes as she laid in bed with Prince Lake.
Monica’s mood dramatically increased after seeing the wondrous wedding between Prince River and Princess Dana. It felt as if Prince Lake’s vivid explanations of the history of the merfolk and the existence of the dragons and elves expanded her preconceptions of the world - To think she used to be a human not too long ago couped up in an apartment-filled life on land was almost unbelievable.
But thanks to the genie’s magic and what came after, it feels like anything is possible.
The mermaid let out a yawn as she stretched her arms and tail. Monica looked over the still-sleeping prince and smiled as she saw the prince’s muscular chest move up and down as he breathed silently. Monica swam over to meet Prince Lake face to face and kissed his nose.
The prince’s eyebrows furrowed for a bit before Lake went back to its relaxed state. Monica leaned her face towards Lake’s nose again but let out a yelp once the Prince’s arms quickly swept Monica away and the merman’s body playfully rolled around the bed.
Monica could feel Lake’s chest rumble as the merprince let out a hearty laugh. “You thought I was still asleep, didn’t you?”
“Yes! Yes, I did!” Monica laughed. “Now, let me go, Lake!”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Monica could feel her tail quickly being coiled by Lake’s scaly limb. “No,” Lake spoke as he tried to calm down his laugher.
Eventually, Lake lightened his grip on Monica and uncoiled his powerful fishtail but the mermaid remained in his arms. Monica let out a sigh as she reveled in the feeling of being with such a strong boyfriend.
“Nice to see you, too, Monica.” Lake quipped.
The two laid on the bed for a couple more minutes until they both eventually rose up from the bed and went on to prepare themselves for the day.
Once the couple was ready, a crowned Prince Lake and a decorated Monica swam down to the main market center of Lake’s kingdom. Upon their arrival, they were met with open arms by the kingdom’s commoners.
Many mermaids and mermen praised the couple.
“You look so pretty!” A little mergirl with a pink tail exclaimed to Monica.
“Looking cool, your highness!” A teenage merman with a red tail said to Lake.
“Please, come to my shop. Royals eat free!” A merman owner of a restaurant said to the two.
“When are you two getting married like me?” A purple-tailed mermaid said as she eagerly showed her engagement ring to the couple.
Lake and Monica enjoyed the praise they got from their people. After what felt like a life of isolation on land, life at sea felt so much more welcoming and exciting to Monica ever since she wished to become a mermaid.
The excited noises and praises coming from the happy merfolk suddenly turned to silence.
Monica was confused about what happened to the energy of the Kingdom, she turned to ask Lake what was wrong when she noticed Lake looking shocked at something in his eyesight.
Monica turned her head to see what everyone was looking at and gasped at what she saw.
