Their North Eastern American Town is like any other. It's small, quiet and has a tight-knit community. It wasn't boggling to think that Sam walked a few blocks before he reached Warren's house. The trip also became far shorter now that he got these long legs of his.
Warren was the guy he was with since they were children. He met him on wee kids on a kindergarten playground. Sam saw him alone playing with a figurine that is very much like the one on his hands. He approached him and that's where their eight-year-old friendship blossomed. Warren was your usual geeky stereotype kind of guy. He's cool, he's awkward, and mostly, you can trust him with anything. He's like Sam's brother from another mother.
Sam reached Warren's house on a cozy mid-morning. Sam knocked on the door and sure enough, Warren greeted him.
"Summers?" Warren asked as if he weren't sure of what he's saying.
"Yes. That's me."
Sam mentally scratched his head. Warren always called him by his first name.
"What brings you here?" Warren asked. "I haven't talked to you for years."
*"Years?"* Sam thought. They just talked about Cannibal Holocaust yesterday. He was raving how the movie is extraordinary in its time. He admired the realistic gore the movie portrayed.
Suddenly, Sam realized what must have happened. When he wished that he become a far better version of himself, reality must have changed with it.
"Excuse me for a second," Sam said. He sat at the porch and wished the app to show him what were the changes with his wish. The phone flashed and a moment of clarity hit Sam in the head.
They were brief friends when they were children. By their elementary years, Sam was hooked in with the cool kids of the community. He left Warren to be alone with the other geeky kids. Their paths diverged from one another and they never reconciled.
Sam can't believe this. Him and Warren are two pieces in a pod. Two bullets in a mag. They are brothers not bound by blood. This can't be happening. On one hand, Sam could easily change this by wishing that they were friends before. On another, he could let this be and see where it goes.
