When it was previously mentioned that Mary “ worked” at Stallworth that was barely cutting it. Mary had to process all the human subjects after they checked in but before the were directed to there rooms. So on the day when her children were supposed to be shadowing her; it just wasn’t possible given her difficult task and the amount of subjects that day. So when Mary got to work she dropped Zack and Morgan off at the child care center and put her remaining four children in her fairly large office. Mary explained to her children that she was again for the hundredth time how she was “sorry for today”.
“ Please don’t leave the office unless you have to use the bathroom. I’ll try to answer my phone as much as possible and as fast as possible. You can use the computer for anything for fun you can play on your phones and the iPad, I’ll try to stop by every hour. I love you all so so so much.” She kissed each of her kids on the head even though Alex tried to shoo her away. She then shut the door and was out.
When Mary got to the lobby she didn’t know what to say. The crowd of volunteer subjects went out the door and around the block. She walked over to Lisa; the secretary.
“ Lisa, how many people have checked in so far?” She begged
“ I’ve only been able to check in around 600 names, I started running out of check-in sheets. But there has to be at least five times as many outside. It must be because of the raise.” She exclaimed clearly frustrated by the amount of people.
“ I don’t even think I would stand in that line for 500 dollars.” She said gazing out the doors as the line curved to the right.
“ Oh you didn’t hear? These tests are different from the others, they raised the reward to 1 thousand dollars yesterday. My friend who’s a teacher said that half her first class didn’t show up to get in line. This is crazy.” She finished.
