Why Mom couldn't just leave him at home and watch his siblings was one of life’s great mysteries. He was 16 after all, and he didn’t need to be here. The only reason this was better than going to school was that he could be on his phone.
He got a text from his friend Jack.
Jack: Dude your mom works at Stallworth right?
Alex: Yeah, why?
Jack: Me and Kyle are in line and we are about to get screened for testing. I thought I saw your mom.
Alex: Yeah, she dragged the entire family over here for being your kid to work day but I won’t even be able to do anything all day.
Jack: Dude that sucks.
Jack: Wait why don’t you do a test? You can cut in line behind us so you don’t have to wait for hours.
Alex: I don’t know dude, I don’t think my mom would like it.
Alex: Screw it I’m not gonna baby sit my family all day. My mom says it only takes an hour, I’ll be back before she notices. I’ll be 500 dollars richer when she comes back though.
Jack: Wait are they not making it a thousand, that’s what the add said?
Alex: Did they raise it? I just heard my mom say it was going to be 500. You can probably ask her though.
Jack: True true, come to the big room next to the lobby that’s where they are holding all of us.
Alex: omw
Alex turned to his siblings.
David and Henry has hooked up Minecraft on the computer and Peter was playing on his phone.
“ I’m gonna go use the bathroom. I’ll be right back guys.” He said already heading out the door.
David and Henry didn’t even lift an eye. But Peter noticed but then went back to his game.
