Again the box completed its summoning spell, and again the latches snapped open.
Sarah reach in and pulled out...a large oyster?
"Uhhh...what?" the girl said, looking nonplussed.
As Jessica peered at the mollusk, Kimberly looked in the box.
"There's a note this time!" she said, pulling out a small roll of paper cinched closed with a string. Untying it, she read it aloud.
"Sea Snack, crack open the shell and swallow the treat inside for a salty sojourn. Effects enhanced by water."
She looked up from the note at Jessica, "Well you do like seafood, I suppose you could try being it for a little while."
"Haha very funny." snapped Jessica, "Can someone grab me a knife?"
"I'll get it!" said Skye. She hopped up from the couch with a spring in her step and bounded off for the kitchen.
Kimberly noticed that Skye seemed to have an extra spring in her step.
Maybe the monster blood is already affecting her? She thought. As Skye walked away, Kimberly couldn't help but stare at the girl's toned legs, her gray leggings almost looked painted on. Her eyes moved downwards, catching her white socked feet. Again Kimberly felt the flutter in her stomach she had felt when Skye was eyeing her up. Quickly she refocused her attention back on Jessica, who was unsuccessfully trying to pry open the shell before Skye returned.
After a minute of fruitless effort, Skye returned with butter knife and handed it to Jessica.
"Thanks," the girl said before she stuck the blade between the shell's edges and popped it open.
On a small cushion sat a good sized pearl.
"I'm supposed to eat this?" said Jessica warily.
"Swallow was what the note said," interjected Kimberly, "I wouldn't try chewing on that, might crack a tooth."
"If you say so," said the dark-haired girl, and she promptly popped the pearl in her mouth before downing it with a generous gulp from her wine glass.
She shuddered. "Uughh, that was really salty."
Jessica gazed at herself for a moment, looking as if she feared she might suddenly turn into a goldfish. When nothing of the sort happened she let out a small sigh of relief.
"Well that wasn't as bad as I...ooh!" she gasped suddenly as she felt a twinge in her mouth. She looked at the other girls, her mouth open in shock as she felt a twinge in her mouth. They noticed that all her teeth were now sharpening to points, and her lips were turning yellowish.
The tan skin on her hands appeared to shift, a dark bluish tinge materialized in some parts. Her fingers grew slightly longer and slimmer, her nails a bit more pointed. Yellow webbing slowly appeared on her digits, moving just to the middle knuckle on each finger.
Jessica was at a loss for words. She rubbed her hands together, furling and unfurling her fingers, the skin felt smoother on the bluish sections and the webbing tingled as it moved.
Sarah leaned forward to touch the webbing between Jessica's fingers. "Ooh it's soo smooth!"
The changes appeared to stop here for the moment.
"Wow," said Jessica, "that was something else."
Jessica looked at Skye, "I'm definitely jumping in that pool soon."
"I'm counting on it." said Skye with a sultry wink.
All eyes now turned to Kimberly.
"Your turn," said Skye with a devious grin. Kimberly thought her up and lower canines looked a little sharper than usual.
"Only fair," said Kimberly, as she pressed the ruby button and prepared herself for her second change in as many days.
