The August Issue of Animalia magazine was more focused on the major parts of the IAC rather than "scandals" or "disasters" that some magazines seemed to focus on, but there was actually two different versions of the same magazine, one for the younger members of society and one for the more "adult" members.
---
Part of what made the two versions different was the fact that the more adult version covered both of the IAC Lingerie Show and the Bare-As-You-Dare Competition, while the other didn't. The digital version often required Premium Accounts to access, and special software was used to keep "hackers" out, etc..

The Adventures of Ed Meanstreets was about stopping "terrorists" who supposedly were planning to turn the IAC's purpose against it. The only clue was from a message delivered to Ed's HQ threatening to do so, once the severe misspelling was "interpreted".
"This is obviously the work of some very dangerous, and very bad spelling, terrorists." said the head of the organization. Ed eventually went undercover at the warm-up session as an athlete from the newly formed nation of "Cornicover" (the "lab boys", as the head of the organization called them, supposedly came up with it). One rather amusing thing that happened when he encountered Animalians that were both taller and two to three times more muscular than he was.
But what was originally seen as a false alarm was eventually revealed that someone was messing up accuracy causing arguments amongst athletes. Eventually Ed realized that who was responsible and where they were. It was one of the "infamous" members of the crime group that he regularly thwarted: Janice "Can't Spell" Hylyfe. She was hiding both herself and the device that was causing the mess-ups in the blimp that was seemingly covering the warm-up sessions. The one thing that gave away her location was the simple saying "There's no 'I' in 'teamwork'", while the phrase on the blimp was "Show the world your teamwirk!"
Eventually Ed was able to use the IAC Cauldron (that only existed in the comic) in "Grand Finale" mode to rupture the blimp and send Janice crashing to the ground (she fortunately survived with a broken leg). But what made it funny was the fact that, when ruptured, the blimp shot around like a balloon that was inflated but not tied shut when let go; and the 'cherry on top' was when Janice Hylyfe was finally caught, she had inhaled enough helium to make voice high enough to make her threats to get even so more comical, causing the athletes to laugh so hard that some couldn't even breathe from laughing so hard.

There was also an article that talked about each Animalian colony and what dangers could await there. While some were understandable, there was some that were surprising. Most notably were the various dangerous plants that could be found at certain colonies. For example there was a smaller, but just as dangerous, relative of the gympie gympie, a.k.a. the stinging tree that was just discovered on Mieni Atoll; while there was at least one or two Bunya Pines in Northland which could easily knock out or even kill with their enormous pinecones.
It also included a guide that helped show which plants were safe for herbivore Animalians to eat and which were toxic when eaten. What was surprising was the fact that, while some were considered 'visibly dangerous', there were some that were seemingly harmless but were even more dangerous than those that were visibly dangerous.
There was also a web address that showed a video of a large movement of Siafu, a.k.a. driver ants from one colony place to another that made a route right through Maelewano. The article that covered it said that Siafu gained a bit of notoriety when they appeared in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, where their landmark achievement was eating a grown man alive. But there were experts that said that their depiction in the movie was a gross exaggeration of their eating habits, and the Siafu are more commonly found in Africa, not South America, and that the ants depicted in the movie were more like either army ants or imported fire ants. But there were also experts that confirmed that Siafu Ants are powerful and ravenous. But the video was shot from the side of the colony as they moved from one area to another, which seemed to prove the old adage "don't bother something and that something won't bother you".

The article that covered the highlights of the IAC mainly focused on the games and the winners of the earlier games (for the paper versions). The one that was seemingly of most interest was the three paragraphs that covered the "Seven on Four" night, but that seemingly wasn't as important as the rest of the IAC, much to the chagrin of certain people.

Because fall/school was just around the corner, there was also an article that talked about myths and realities about first impressions at school, both your 'old school' and a relatively new school (moving from elementary school to middle school, etc.). This was considered good to know since sometime there was some truth to some of those myths.

Since there was school coming up soon, this edition of Animalia Magazine was considered a good way to prepare.
