“I come from a planet far from here, one that has not yet been discovered by your species, and probably never will be for that matter…” Robin explained.
“Why is that?” Julia cut in.
“Because it’s been destroyed…” He put his head down, shaking it, and running his hand through his hair. “I was an engineer for the government. They were at war with another planet, and were at the brink of losing it. They needed to get to the general of the opposing planet, but he was so well-guarded, it would be nearly impossible. But luckily, I had been experimenting with a power of which my ancestors held for generations. I had not been exposed to it, as my grandfather was the last known one to use it. He was capable of changing his and other being’s forms completely, change or even stop time, control the minds of others, and harness the power of nature.
“Eventually, I unlocked the gene, and all hell broke loose…” He paused again. “It hurt the first time, as I’m sure it did with you. But it worked, and I was the next person in my family to inherit it, and the only being in our time to possess it.”
“So what happened with the war?” Julia asked.
“I was worried about attempting to pass it on to others, and having to teach them how to control it would take too long. They wanted me to go, and I was perfectly willing to. I went in disguised as the general’s wife… And murdered him in bed. I escaped as a soldier and returned to my planet. Two cycles later, or as you humans call them; weeks, the enemy declared total geothermal annihilation…”
“Wait, declared total what?” Julia asked.
“Geothermal annihilation. They were able to harness the heat from their planet’s core and use it as a weapon. Of course, we had to retaliate. By this time, we were close to finding a way to transfer my power in the form of a serum, and the master batch was locked in a secure facility. I saw now the destruction it would cause, so I took action. I disguised myself as a general, stole the serums and my research and escaped the planet to our nearby moon.” He closed his eyes and covered his mouth. “I watched my planet get destroyed; watched the pieces fly in all directions of space, and the carcasses of ships who tried to escape.” He exhaled deeply and looked at Julia. “If I didn’t escape with the serum and my research, it would have fallen into the hands of reckless men, and havoc would have wreaked the universe.” Julia remained silent, trying to digest all of this...
“I flew to many galaxies in search of planets of which I had no association with, and landed here, on Earth, in the year 1531, morphing into the human form of which I am now. Ever since then, I have been searching for noble people who would take this power of which I possess and use it for their own needs. But everyone who I have given it to, only focus on changing big events in their world. I had to remove the power from them and wipe their memories. Only nine people before you had it, and every single one was unworthy to control it.”
“So… What does this have to do with me?” Julia asked, knowing that such a story couldn’t possibly be made up.
“I lived for eighty years not giving it to anyone, and when I saw you, I saw something different. I saw someone who wanted to change their life, be someone else. I saw someone who wasn’t worried about changing a world event, who just wanted to change their own life. This power, is exactly for that.” Julia stared at him for a moment, but wanted to make sure this guy wasn’t pulling her chain.
“But how do I know you’re telling the truth?” She asked. Robin glared at her.
“You’re serious?” He asked. Julia kept staring him down. “Okay. If you insist.” Then Julia felt the pain again, and looked down at herself. She was morphing again, and rather quickly. Her breasts deflated, leaving her flat-chested. Her hair receded into her scalp and her face changed back into her old male one. Her entire body grew and became masculine; she moaned as her vagina closed and a penis poked out of her pants.
John looked back at Robin, who was smirking slightly. He then looked out of the booth and at the people in the diner, who were all casually eating their food and talking as if nothing happened.
“Don’t worry John, they won’t see us. That’s one of the beauties of this power. I’ll change you back.” The pain returned, but not nearly as powerful, and before John knew it, he was a girl again.
