"Don't worry, mommy will not leave you behind. Mommy will make it all better for my dollies"
Her insane rambling made you wonder what had happened down there. Did she kill whoever was downstairs? It was hard to think with such a limited amount of air coming in and out of your body but it didn't take much to realise that at least someone came snooping and it went wrong.
A short while after the Queen started sobbing in the room, you heard another magic sounding noise. Suddenly you heard the voice of a man addressing the Queen "What happened? I got your telepathic emergency message but you didn't make much sense."
"Downstairs", the Queen kept sobbing and repeating the same word "Downstairs. I can't leave my shop. You have to help me!".
It suddenly hits you she must be talking to the magic dealer she mentioned before. "Calm down, woman! I'll go downstairs and check it out, this better be important!"
You hear the door open and the sound of footsteps getting farther away. The sobbing wouldn't stop, and the promises of not leaving behind didn't either. The whole fact that her priorities were all fucked up scared you more and more, as you got to know a bit more about the Queen. Eventually, after what felt like an eternity you heard footsteps going back.
"By Merlin, I don't know what you were thinking woman. I cleaned it up but... Did you have to use up all your magic on those investigators? You know we'll have more people knocking and then what? Prepare to pack up and leave, that means you only take what you need. No one can trace this back to you since you use my magic, so I'll be covering your ass this time. I'll work on masking my magic print to throw them off, but you need to leave as soon as possible."
"But the toys", the Queen managed to say between her wailing, "What do we do? I love them!"
"We'll have to leave them! They can't say anything about this to anyone, I made sure of that. Trust me, it's all gonna be fine you just have to cooperate!"
With that they left the room, leaving you to your thoughts yet again. Not being able to move was even more of a pain in the ass than usual since you couldn't wait to see happened next. You mourned the loss of the people downstairs. However, because of their sacrifice, freedom now felt like it was just around the corner.
