"Dad," Nick sighed. "Why can't you just use the website yourself?"
Darren looked over his computer still a bit confused at the website he had just opened up. When he called his son for help, he figured that Nick would just do it for him. He still wasn't used to this kind of technology or trusting online companies with his credit card. Instead he just wanted to have his son do it. After all, Nick was the one saying how amazing the website was. "Ok..." Darren agreed.
"Good," Nick replied. "I'll see you later."
"Yeah... See you later," Darren echoed. As he was getting older, Darren felt more and more distant from his son. He wasn't sure what was really going on and often felt like Nick just wanted him out of his life. Even if Nick wasn't even 30 yet, he seemed to have no interest in the near 50 year old man. The furthering distance always made him feel a little bit bad. At the same time Darren didn't want to intrude. He knew he raised his son right, with descent friends, and the knowledge he always has a place at home. But feeling that distance he wanted to be part of his son's life just a little bit more.
Darren scolded himself again thinking about forcing himself into his son's life. "Maybe you should try living for you," he thought as he saw a few things items that he would probably just like to buy. Looking through the catalog of motorcycle equipment or landscaping tools, there were quite a few things he thought he could buy. But that was still a bit silly. He hadn't been on a motorcycle since Nick was born and there was never enough time with work to also become a gardener again. He kept scrolling through.
There had to be something he could possibly buy. Maybe he could just get himself a new pocketknife or something. He clicked through and found one that was incredibly functional and what he could use at work for opening boxes. "Yeah... That's what I want..." he said a bit blankly.
