The first person who showed up was Brenda, a girl who Jennifer never interacted with much outside of when she ordered coffee at the cafe where Brenda worked as a barista. She was kind of a loner since she never had the time or the money to go out with friends. Jennifer kind of pitied Brenda. She knew from gym that Brenda was in suprisingly good shape, and she would've probably been invited on the cheer team if she wasn't so ugly. Brenda's teeth were crooked, she was always wearing worn down hoodies and Jennifer figured she must be washing her hair with dish soap with how dull and frizzy it was. If someone had just spent some money on Brenda's appearance she could've been a very popular girl at school.
"Brenda? I didn't know you were into girls."
"I'm not, really, I just want the caretaker's comp."
Brenda took out an old plastic bag filled with coins.
"There should be about a hundred dollars in here. I would be offering more but my dad lost his job over a DUI and I've had to pitch in for rent."
"Wow, Brenda.."
"B-but if you need more I can take out a loan! I can have another two hundred for you before tonight! And maybe I can trade you some of my things."
"Woah woah, that's not where I was going with that. I'm going to do my good deed for the year right now, you don't have to pay me a single cent."
"I can just have her?" Brenda looked at Jennifer for the first time in the entire conversation.
"Oh thank you! Thank you!" Brenda bounced up and down and gave Lily a big hug.
"You have no idea how much this means to me, I'll be able to pay for college next year after all!" Full of exitement, Brenda got behind the wheelchair and ran off with the poor disabled girl clinging to her seat.
