Kat thought of her brother briefly as she opened the first can and emptied it into the bowl. But she smiled with delight as her puppy eagerly started to eat his dinner. He slurped and slobbered, with his tail wagging furiously. Dan, on the other hand was shocked to awaken to excruciating sharp pain, teeth, dog breath, being licked, gulped and swallowed. Somehow, the spell had kept him in a conscious and aware state. He screamed out in agony, to no avail. No one could hear him. Well, almost no one could hear him. Kat couldn't hear him then, but the next morning, when she went into the basement to grab another can for her puppy's breakfast, where all of Dan's cans were piled together, he summoned all the strength he had to telepathically speak to Kat. He begged and pleaded with her to use her powers to bring him back somehow. But there was no way she was interested in that! She spoke not a word, only letting him know that she heard him with a loud chuckle as she picked up a can and ran up the stairs. He could hear her muffled voice speak... "OK, sit.... stay...." as she popped the can open. He heard the scraping of a spoon on the inside of the can, and began to feel once again as he plopped into the stainless steel bowl. "No, stay!" He heard Kat say as she gently lowered the bowl onto the floor. "Sit! stay..... stay...." She paused for a few seconds as she thought of Dan again. Then she smiled and said "OK, boy, get him!" She laughed as she corrected herself, "I mean get it, boy!" As with last night, Dan instantly felt his consciousness localize back to the sharp teeth, tongue, slobber and sharp pain. "Good boy," spoke Kat as she watched the dog finish his breakfast and lick the bowl repeatedly. "Who's ready to go outside for a walk?"
