Back in the bathroom the girls were staring at each other intensely. Although they were clearly identical twins their different styles set them apart. Emily was wearing tight tattered jeans and a midriff showing black t-shirt with a Joy Division album cover on it. Paula was dressed neatly in a pink sun dress and dressy shoes. Emily has her hair tied in pigtails, while Paula had hers tied back in a bun.
“So that thing changes your memory sometimes” stated Emily. “I feel normal but you took a picture. What changed on me?”
Paula thought for a second. She and Emily had been best friends, but the more she thought about it, a twin sister was way more fun than a best friend. She looked at Emily. “Just your hairstyle. You had your head shaved up the sides and the bangs dyed blue.”
Emily looked at herself in the mirror and tried to imagine herself with that haircut. She scrunched up her face. “Ugh. That sounds gross.”
“Yeah!” agreed Paula. “Nobody wanted to tell you but yeah...”
“Bet mom hated it though!” Emily said smiling.
“Oh for sure.”
Suddenly the door opened and the school resource officer walked in. She shock her head and looked at the girls. “Shouldn’t you be in class?” she stated.
Emily and Paula quickly agreed and hurried out of the bathroom. Emily had math and Paula had Chemistry so they went their separate ways.
