Kim waved her hand without any real thought as five small metal balls floated in the air beside her bed, she wasn’t even paying them any attention anymore as she lied in bed drawing in her art book. Since her powers came in she had been tested by multiple doctors both from the center and from the CDC and Department of Monsters. She was a new type of Monster which required them to test everything they could about her. She had expected that when she got the new power, but she hadn’t expected people from NASA coming up from Texas to see if they could figure out how she controlled gravity.
“If we can figure out how you do it, it would open up a whole new era in space travel.” Said the NASA scientist as they watched her control gravity. They found that while she controlled gravity, it was easier for her to control the gravity of metal objects, but she could do it to anything and anyone.
She paused for a moment and looked down at her latest work, she was always a skilled artiest but now she seamed to have better hand-eye coordination which took her art to the next level.
“Kim…you ready?” inquired Mary as she looked up to see her Mentors standing in her doorway. “Ready to go home.”
“Not really.” Admitted Kim, she hadn’t spoken to her mother since she admitted that she wanted her own daughter to become a porn star. The thing was that wasn’t the worse thing she had to deal with, she was about to return to her life and face her bullies.
“So have you decided if you are going to change your name?” inquired Sally as the lawyer had documents prepared to make the name change legal fast.
“In a way, I am going to switch my middle and first name and change my last name.” confirmed Kim
“So what should we call you?” inquired Jess
“Grace Kimberly Bernard.” Answered Kim, soon to be Grace.
“Nice name.” said Jess
“Not going with your step-father’s name?” inquired Mary
“No, they want me to be a porn star, maybe a clean break is needed.” confirmed Kim with a shake of her head. “I will need to find another job to help support me through school, but I already handled one full time job plus school. I can handle a second job on top of everything.”
“Well, I hope you didn’t mind but I made a call to some of my contacts in your city and my firm represents an interior design company in your city.” Explained Sally “I sent some of your work and told them what you are studying, and truth be told how you look as well. They want you as a paid intern and I wouldn’t be surprised if they also want to put you in any adds and it helps that a business has to hire a certain number of monsters and on the surface you don’t look like a normal monster, it is sad but people do judge people on how they look and you look very different now. It would pay a lot more then fast food job and likely cover your schooling.”
“Wow…” said Kim with a smile as she nodded her head. “Of course, I’ll take the job.”
“Alright, lets get you signed out and go get you some new cloths and then back to school.” said Beth
The check out process went smoothly, and with a few signatures Kim was no more and Grace came into being. All her IDs where changed, her back accounts where changed as well and so where her scholarship, within two hours all her documents where done and she walked out the door with her mentors. There was nearby mall and by the end of the day, she had a new ware door and some other items with the help of the $500 dollars given by the government.
Her mentors even drove her back to college and to the administration office where she signed some final paperwork. Then she was dropped off in front of her old dorm building with a few bags, it was a Friday afternoon and people where just getting back from class and more then a few people looked at her as she walked into the building. Checking in with the RA, the RA was one of the few people who knew who she was and after being told that he was to call her Grace now he lead her back toward her old dorm room, the room she shared with the woman who had bullied her for years Lisa.
