“Come in.” said Lisa’s voice as formerly Kim now Grace actually flinched a bit in fear from memories of all the times the person who owned that voice had done to her.
The RA entered the room while Grace remained outside, she knew the lay out of the room, two beds, two desks, two closest and two mini fridges. She knew that Lisa had taken over both of the desks, one for studying and another for her make up table. Lisa had also taken half of the closet and the whole of second mini fridge as her own, leaving Kim with only her bed for herself and she didn’t want to think about what Lisa could have done to it on the multiple times she had been locked out while Lisa brought home one boy after another. Kim had been too weak to stand up to Lisa and had just allowed it to happen. The walls where covered with Lisa’s favorite bands and other things she found pretty and made the inner goth/nerd within the old Kim want to gag.
Lisa was laying on her bed flipping through some fashion magazine, she didn’t even turn around to look at the RA who stood in the doorway.
“Is there something I can help you with?” said Lisa in the same condensing voice.
“Well you have a new roommate.” Explained the RA as Lisa paused, Grace could almost see Lisa roll her blue eyes as she finally stood up and turned around to see her standing there. The look on her face was almost worth the wait, Lisa who was used to being the hottest woman in the room, the one who could have any guy she wanted wrapped around her finger with ease looked like a wart infected witch compared to her now. Lisa’s mouth dropped opened and she seamed to be momentarily confused.
“Hello.” Said Kim her voice almost musical in tone as she decided to play the part of a new student. “I am Grace.”
“Ah…ah…I am Lisa.” Introduced Lisa “Well…welcome.”
“Thank you.” Said Grace as she stepped in and looked at the empty bed, her old bed. “I assume this is mine?”
“Yes.” Answered the RA “So is the second desk, closet and the mini fridge by the desk. Lisa you will have to clean off your stuff, you can’t have them both.”
“Ok…” said Lisa still trying to get a grip of what was happening.
“You must really like this band.” Said Grace knowing full well that the boy band who’s poster hung by Grace’s bed was Lisa’s favorite and she had followed them on tour across Europe for her senior break.
“Yes, I love them.” Said Lisa
“They are ok, is it alright if I put up some of my own stuff?” inquired Grace playing along, she knew that the rules required that they share the walls with normally one half the walls belonging to one roommate the other side the other.
“Of course, Lisa you will also have to take those down as well.” Said the RA
“But…but.” started Lisa not wanting to give up anything. She was a spoiled roaten kid used to getting everything she wanted and she used to have a push over for a roommate. She didn’t have a push over for a roommate now.
“You have to make room for Grace, here she has just as much right to this room as you do.” Explained the RA “Now do this or I have no choose but to write you up.”
That got to Lisa, while she had pushed over Kim, she had been written up a few times by Campus police for her drunken activities one or two more write ups and even her father’s money couldn’t save her from being removed from school. Worse of all it was Friday at 6:30 pm and Lisa and her gang always went out to bars around 8 each Friday to pick up guys and have them buy her drinks. She wouldn’t be able to go out tonight without getting written up. Grace hid a smile and waited for the next shoe to drop. “Now why don’t you start clearing off the desk while Grace gets her closet set up.”
