Robert and Sally sat in the Doctor’s office waiting for to find their fate, Robert was trying to be strong for his wife holding her hand tight even as he wanted to be held himself. They had heard of the Monster Virus, but so far only a single person in their city had come down with it. It was a problem that was distant, something to see on the internet or the news but nothing that would effect their lives.
“It will be alright.” said Robert as he pulled his wife close and kissed her forehead tenderly, it was at that moment that the door opened and the doctor walked in and sat down across from them.
“Well Mr. and Mrs. Cooper we have the results of your tests.” explained the Doctor, he had worked with Sally multiple times at the hospital and even with Robert a few times when the city carried out emergency drills with the Fire Department.
“What is the news, Frank.” Said Sally shaking a bit as she called the Doctor by his first name.
“Well…the good news is that you came down with the same strain of the flu.” Explained the Doctor as a small burden was lifted from both their hearts, if they had to be separated, they didn’t know what they would do. “The bad news is that both of you are becoming Centaurus.”
“Centaurides?” inquired Robert confused for a moment and then it hit him, he was becoming a she.
“My God.” Said Sally as she looked at her husband. “Robert.”
“Yes, Mr. Cooper you are becoming a female Centaur or better known as a Centaurides.” Explained the doctor.
“Well…” said Robert trying to be strong as he looked at his wife.
“Don’t worry Robert I’ll help you.” Said Sally pulling him into a hug.
“And he will have to help you Mrs. Cooper.” Said the Doctor as Sally looked at him. “We did another blood test, congratulations your pregnant Mrs. Cooper.”
There was a long moment as both of them looked at the Doctor.
“I am pregnant?” inquired Sally looking down at her flat belly, they hadn't been trying to get pregnant but they hadn't been practicing safe sex either.
“Yes.” Confirmed the Doctor, predicting the next question. “And the baby will be transforming with you and will be born a Centaur or Centaurides depending on the gender.”
“How long do we have?” inquired Robert
“For the turn, 10 days but you should expect some minor changes before that and the child should be come in about 9 months.” explained the Doctor
“But would I still be the father?” inquired Robert
“Of course, you will be, only you will be his or her second mother. Biological it will carry half of your DNA half of your wife.” Explained the Doctor “You can even remain married once turned, same sex marriage is perfectly legal among humans and monsters.”
Both of them shared a look, they had grew up in religious homes not die hard religious homes but religious none the less. How could they explain to their parents, friends and family that not only where they becoming monster but Sally was pregnant with a monster and Robert was now her “wife” and mother to the child as well.
“You have a lot to get ready for.” Explained the Doctor.
