2 weeks passed. Luke was ever by Lillian's side, but she barely responded to him. It made sense. Even beyond the horrible events that had transpired, her soul had been damaged. Butt, who had flown away during the battle but returned afterwards, tried to help as well, but he didn't really understand her struggle. He didn't have a soul in the first place. He couldn't grieve the deaths of her friends. He did at least know that he liked this human better than any succubus he'd ever known, so it was probably better in his mind that she stay human.
At last help arrived: the light mage from Raneer. Her name was Risa Brooker. It was a rather ordinary name, and she seemed perhaps more humble than the wizard had been, but the old woman certainly seemed to match the wizard in wisdom.
"Where is the patient?" she asked of Luke.
"In her room, where she has been since the incident."
"Bah, that is no good. I will apply my magics, but there are things no magic can do. The soul needs sunlight, companionship, love."
Luke was despondent. "I have tried to show her love every day, but she does not seem to receive it."
Risa nodded. "She is deeply wounded, but you do more than you know. You must keep at it."
Luke hoped she was right. He led Lisa into Lillian's room. "Lily? The healer mage is here."
Lillian was lifelessly staring at her game windows. Apparently she'd kept the Mega Fireball, Battle Illusion, and Super Water Stream spells that her succubus lv 2 form had unlocked. Also, her Succubus Transformation had leveled up, but was now marked with a (Sealed) tag. She couldn't use it anymore. She supposed she should be glad, but there were days she didn't care, days she almost wanted to turn back into a demon, so she wouldn't have to feel anymore.
"Lily, talk to us, please. This woman can help." said Luke.
"Go away." She said. Risa immediately turned to go.
"Wait!" said Luke to Risa, "Surely you will not give up that easily?"
"No magic can heal a soul that does not want healing. I can see deep into her soul, and it is not ready. I will not say there is no hope, but I can not help now."
Luke pleaded with her, and with Lillian, but there was nothing to be done for it, and soon Lillian was alone again, lying on her back in her bed. Ping! A game window popped up. She took several seconds to bother with reading it. It was a Key Choice results message? She read it, and then she shot up into a sitting position, her eyes wide open.
Risa was preparing to leave, while Luke tried to convince her otherwise. "I will return in six week's time." she promised, "but in the meantime I have other patients."
Then Lillian appeared in the doorway. She still looked damaged, worn, but now there was a determination in her eyes. "I'll do it. Whatever it takes to heal, I'll do it."
Risa walked closer and looked deep into her eyes, studying her spirit. After a long time she nodded. "Yes, I can work with this. But tell me child, what happened?"
Lillian stepped past Risa, and taking her boyfriend's hands she looked deep into his eyes. "I'm pregnant, Luke. You're...you're going to be a father."
