Emily had seen the text Rick had sent her, but she had already figured it out. It wasn't from her own deduction skills, but rather from the fact that Paula had fiddled with he camera. Emily watched as Paula looked around in confusion, and then down at her self before letting out a loud, girly shriek. Paula ran off with the camera in hand as the students parted for the screaming classmate.
"What was that about?" The blonde friend asked Emily in confusion.
"Uhhhh, I think I know what's wrong." Emily said. "You stay here, it may get uh, complicated." She explained before running off after her.
It only took a few minutes of questioning students before Emily found Paula hiding in a janitor's closet.
"Hey... Dad?" Emily asked hopeful. "Do you... remember?"
Paula looked up with relief. "Wait, I'm not crazy! You remember too!" She exclaimed.
"Yes I remember." Emily replied relieved. "Okay, just hand me the camera and we can fix all of this."
"Fix?" Paula asked. "What? How do you know which is the right memory?" She asked panicking. "I... I keep seeing flashes of being a man and being myself and flashes of two different freaking wives and... and... I don't know!" She said overwhelmed.
"Dammit." Emily thought. "He's not fully aware, he just has some memories and a general feeling something is wrong."
"Okay Paula." Emily said as calmly as possible. "Just hand me that camera and I can make those memories all go away."
