With that being done, Edwin put the Chronivac in his backpack and began moving on before the PE teacher called out to him. "Edwin, you going to be joining your class or what?"
Edwin paused for a moment, not expecting the teacher to notice him. "Yes... sorry Mrs... Smith." The name of the PE teacher came to him as he called back. Slinging the backpack over his shoulders, he walked toward his class on the field. He left his bag with the pile of other backpacks.
"Glad you could join us Edwin..." The teacher commented. "Now, as some of you have already found out, these rags are special. I weaved magic into them to join students together, making some of our games more interesting and more true to their name." The teacher had a smile on her face, clearly enjoying the shock some of the students were showing. "So for those who did wait for instructions, please find your partner and tie yourselves together. You can get creative with where you tie them, but if you want to participate in the race, you have to have less than four legs with your partner. The point is for you to learn how to cooperate with another person."
"Mrs. Smith... I don't have a partner?" voice called from the back of the class. It was Henry, a student of Korean decent.
"Edwin, why don't you partner up with him." The teacher said as she went around helping the students tie the rags around themselves.
Reluctantly, Edwin walked towards his assigned partner. He had not intended on joining in the activity he created, but he decided to go along with it. He curiously watched as many of the students followed the suggestion of tying their legs together, joining them into one composite leg. One unfortunate pair were accidentally facing in opposite directions when they tied the rags around their legs, and now they were joined facing away from each other. A few, braver pairs of students tried tying the rags around different parts of their bodies. He had worded the text, in the Chronivac, to be broad enough to allow other fusions to occur.
"Hey partner..." Henry said as he approached Edwin. The other boy was holding a rag in his hands. "This is kind of crazy. My older sister warned me, but I didn't believe her. Did you have any idea that Mrs. Smith had weird stuff like this?"
Edwin was tempted to say yes, but he decided against it. "No idea; this is so weird." He stared at the magic rag in his partner's hands. "I guess we should tie ourselves together now though. I don't want the teacher to yell at me again."
"Should we do it differently, not around our legs?" the other boy asked.
