Back across the street, Scott and Sharon were still asleep, but their three sons were waking up--along with three of their sons' friends. Zack woke up in one of his twin brothers' beds, and was surprised to find himself alone and sharing a body with no one--wasn't he still fused with Mark and Max when he fell asleep?
While Zack got up from the bed, he happened to glance over at the other--and did a double take when he saw who was lying on it. There was a large male body lying on the bed, one that had clearly passed out last night from "hard work". There were four arms and five heads, two of which were Zack's older brothers. Zack recognized the other three as Kevin, Allan, and Dean. The quins were waking up as Zack looked at them, and as soon as all five heads were conscious, they noticed that Zack was looking at them, clearly needing some kind of explanation, which the group decided to give.
"So Kevin, Allan, and Dean were trying to separate from each other, but couldn't," said Zack, "so they came here last night to get you two to separate them while I was asleep, and you tried fusing with them to help to separate them, but ended up getting tired and decided to wait until morning to finish separating?"
"In a nutshell," Allan answered.
"If only we had the power to fuse and unfuse ourselves like you guys," Kevin added.
"Well," said Max, "Luke and Ethan were originally the only ones with it, and I got it when I fused with him completely. And Mark got it the same way, and Zack got it when we fused together, and our dad got it when he fused with Luke's dad..."
"So that's how you get the power? Fuse completely with someone who already has it?" Dean asked.
"Pretty much," Zack replied.
"We should really think about doing that at some point," said Allan. "It would make this fusing business so much more convenient."
At that moment, everyone heard an alarm go off. This meant that Mark, Max, and Zack's father Scott was getting up. Sharon did not yet know about any of the fusing and conjoinment that her husband, her sons, her husband's friend and his son had been up to lately, and the teens were sure that she would freak if she found out about any of it. If she walked into her twins' bedroom--and found her twin sons fused to their school's football captain (Kevin), soccer captain (Dean), and Max's friend Allan--she would probably have a heart attack.
Their six minds began racing, thinking of what to do. Max and Mark tried to separate the five of them, but it looked like it might take too long as they heard some footsteps coming down the hall--could it be their mom? Then, in the nick of time, the twins successfully separated everyone into back into six separate teenagers. As the footsteps approached the door, Dean and Kevin hid under the beds while Zack and Allan quietly ran into the closet and held the door shut. The twins sat down on their beds to calm themselves, so that they would not look too anxious, like they were hiding something.
A knock was heard, and the knob turned as the door opened.
