Luke and Alex spent the rest of the afternoon watching tv and learning more about their new world. It was kind of weird to see people that they knew from before to be conjoined now, but at least it was interesting. They tried to learn some more about how exactly conjoining worked, but there wasn't a straight answer. Well, at least it was entertaining to try and explain. They also asked questions about each other while no one could listen in. If they were going to be conjoined sort-of-twins for a week, may as well learn about one another.
Luke told Alex about the music he like, which was at least one thing they had in common, and that despite the fact that he liked sports, he was never good at playing them, except basket ball. Alex, for her part, told Luke about her favorite Sci-fi's, including one her body mate actually liked too. Terminator. She also mentioned that she loved the outdoors, which surprised Luke. Time seemed to fly though, as Luke's mom, Alisa, and Alex's dad, Michele, walked in.
"Time to eat you two," Alisa said as Luke and Alex stood up, and the girl of the pair spoke up.
"Ok, Aunt Alisa." Luke then spoke up.
"We're coming Mom."
The dinner table was definitely an interesting sight for the two. Ethan and Alexis sat in the same chair, obviously since they shared a body, while Alisa and Michele's chair was simply wider, built to accommodate the fact that they were joined at the hip. Jesse and Monica were in a normal looking high chair, and being tended by Alexis. Finally, Suzie and Johnny's chair was more of a stool, and the table had some extensions so they could each have some table in front of them. Luke and Alex, like Ethan and Alexis, shared a single chair, though they had two plate in front of them, food already ready. The portions seemed small, but they had one body.
As everyone enjoyed their food, Suzie tried to sneak some food from her "twin's" plate. Johnny glared, and leaned back to push Suzie away from his plate.
"Johnny!"
"You're trying to take my food!"
"You tried to take half my sandwich at lunch!"
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Johnny!" "Suzie!" It was Alisa and Alexis, eyeing their respective child.
"He started it!" "She started it!" The mother both gave them that look. The "You're in trouble" look. The two kids stopped, looking at each other, or as best they could being attached butt-to-butt, and quickly finished up their food before heading upstairs, neither seeming happy. Luke then looked at Alex, seeing she was just as confused as him. They were thrown into being conjoined and had gotten along relatively fine, yet Suzie and Johnny, who had effectively lived their whole lives like that, argued like cats and dogs. Alex was the one who finally spoke up, figuring there was no shame in asking.
"Uh.... What's up with those two?" Michele looked at his daughter, sighing.
"You and Luke may not understand it well, but me and your aunt went through a similar phase. Basically, they don't have to coordinate as much, so ironically tensions can be a bit higher. Couple that with their way of being joined being a bit more difficult to live with, and.... Uh.... Sis?" Alisa sighed.
"And you have the perfect storm basically." Luke and Alex just nodded.
"Thanks guys."
"Yeah. I think we get it. I do at least," Alex added as a light ribbing of Luke. They were each trying to figure out what to do though.
