James writes into the notebook “My friend Marcus walks into the store and pays for the set.” To James’ surprise, his fellow senior and best friend Marcus Williams walks into the store and eyes up the same display for the notebook and pen before walking up to James.
“Hey man, I see you are buying that set of a notebook and pen.” Marcus said to the still stunned James. “Do you mind if I pay for it? I still haven’t paid you back for that time at the vending machine and I think the interest for that transaction has built its way up to ten dollars.”
It’s true that James lent Marcus five dollars for a vending machine at school and that it had been a full two months since it happened, but James was still amazed by Marcus going along with paying for the set.
“Yeah, sure, go ahead.” James said in a shocked yet cool tone.
The clerk interrupted James’ moment of shock by asking Marcus how he wanted to pay. Once their transaction was over, James and Marcus walked out of the store with one question on their minds.
“Now what do we do next?”
