Seventeen-year-old James Thompson walked into the new store in his local mall, called “The Magic Shoppe.” Not only did he find the store name lame, but he found intrigue at the item on display at the front of the store. A notebook and pen set that could alter reality, an idea that James thought about occasionally for the past two years. He was astounded by the price, only ten dollars for a base set and a dollar for additional ink and paper.
He casually walked up to the display, picked up a set of a notebook and pen and strolled over to the clerk. The clerk looked like she was over the hump, but at the same time had energy that could rival a little kid as he watched her skip from a door in the back of the store up to the counter.
“Hi there!” she said in a bubbly voice. “Is this all you want?”
“Uh, is there any way I could test this before I buy it?”
“Yes you can, but don’t try and make me give you this for free,” the clerk responded. “It may alter reality, but it doesn’t work on people who sell it.”
James took a second to think about what he wanted to write about, then an idea popped into his head.
