At this point, Edwin and Lexi sat down on his bed. It seemed as if there was no way to reverse the change, and thus both stood, without saying nothing for a while. Well, at least Edwin made sure to tick the "Reality Alteration" box when using his Chronivac at school, and his and Lexi's families should be unaware of any of this now... At the same time, though, Lexi was weirded out. She'd never heard of a machine capable of bending space-time in such ways, and she felt as if she didn't know everything, yet right next to her was Edwin. Maybe he knew something she didn't, but she wasn't feeling like asking him: she was barely getting used to what happened and she didn't want to ruin the fragile cooperation born between them earlier.
Edwin, on the other hand, felt the need to talk to Lexi.
"Hey, Lexi..."
"Yes..."
"Are...you sad?"
"Yes...no... I don't really know..."
"Hey, I know this might be hard, but.."
"But what?"
"But we can do it together, if you want. I know this isn't what we wanted, but it's what we got. Besides, you are a nice girl, we can get along!"
"Are you sure? I mean, we'll be forced together for the rest of our lives..."
"That's fine, as long as we get along. We'll figure things out, don't worry!"
"Alright, then. We can do this!"
As she said that, Edwin pulled his hand in the air.
"High five!"
They tried to stand up, and surprisingly succeeded, first try. Edwin knew he made Lexi feel better, and really hoped for them to get along, and Lexi was happy to know she had a nice guy to help her at all times, but she still needed to know one thing.
"Edwin"
"Yeah?"
"What's up with the Chronivac then? Why did you bring us here to separate us?"
Edwin knew he had to.....
