"Ha...haha..." Erin laughed awkwardly. Yeah, it would have kept her away too if she had any sense. Still, John seemed a decent enough fellow, and from what she could see from the doorway, the interior seemed quite modern and well-kept. Incongruous, considering the exterior.
Ignoring her misgivings, Erin followed John back through the rather large house. Despite first impressions, the inside made it seem like any other house, or maybe more like any other mansion. It really was big, but not ostentatious. The furniture, while antiques, seemed understated, and the technology was all up-to-date, with tasteful lighting and normal appliances. As John led her through the halls to a comfortable dining room, Erin began to reconsider her initial thoughts.
"So, I hope you like rather unique menu items," John grinned while pulling out a chair for her. Erin seated herself and glanced around the room while John headed to a side door which led to a kitchen. "Can I get you something to drink before we eat? Maybe some wine?"
"Just some soda or juice if you have any, thanks..." Erin replied, turning toward an exiting John, but cutting herself short in surprise and confusion. Did she just see that? Were her eyes playing tricks on her? Just before John passed the doorway and moved out of sight, it almost looked like he had...
