Elf Urself: A Game of Tag to Change a Life

As Lincoln, the four-year-old elf boy sat on the couch waiting for Zoe to get back, he became bored as most little boys do, so with a smile, he got up and went after her.

"Where is that phone book?" Zoe asked herself as she rummaged through their belongings "I know it's here somewhere! I mean, I suppose I should consider myself lucky that Lincoln didn't turn into a mindless animal or an inanimate object. With stories I've heard of people being tranformed like he has, it's possible he made the wrong person mad, and was cursed as punishment for that. If that's the case, then we just need to track down the person who did this, and ask them how to reverse this before- EEP!" she screamed as she felt a small hand touch her from behind.

Turning around, she saw Lincoln smiling up at her with a huge grin, wigging his long elf ears and pointy elf nose.

"Tag! You're it! Hee-hee-hee!" he laughed, then ran away.

Zoe simply shook her head at how childish he was acting, and continued to look for the book, but a small part of her, . . . she found . . . , wanted to play his little game and tag him back. So she chose to play along for now, figuring she could always go back to looking for that book later. "Afterall," she thought to herself as she seemed to lose a bit of hight "It's not like he's terminal. I can find a cure for him later. Right now, it's time for some fun!" so she ran off after him, too busy chasing him to notice her shrinking stature, and reduction in age. All she could think about was trying to catch him, and how much fun she was having in doing so.

Lincoln stopped and hid in a closet to catch his breath, confident that Zoe wouldn't think to look for him in here. However, his sensitive ears picked up the sounds of her footsteps that were growing lighter and lighter. He moved further back, hiding under a pile of clothes.

He sat there, motionless, but grinning the whole time, waiting for her to find him. After what seemed like forever to the little elf boy, he felt a small girl's hand quickly touch his shoulder! Looking out, he saw it was Zoe, but now just like him, she was only four, with rosey cheeks, a pointy nose of three inches long, and pointy ears of six inches long each. All her clothes had also shrunk to fit her as well.

"Hee-hee-hee! Got you!" she told him with a triumphant smile.

"Oh-no! Hee-hee-hee! Ya found me!" he replied with a smile, then told her nervously "Um, it looks like I was contagious. I didn't know. Sorry."

"Don't be!" she said with a smile, putting her hand on his shoulder "I don't even remember being this happy! It's like I ate a whole bag of candy, but I'm not even tired!"

"I'm sorry for how I was earlier." Lincoln told her "I shouldn't have been such a holiday grump! That guy who made me like this, I think he was Santa, and this isn't a curse - it's a gift! And the best part of it is I got to share it with you! Only . . . . do you . . . still want to go to Mexico?"

"Oh Lincoln, my sweetie!" Zoe replied with a smile as she wiggled her elf ears "I'll go anywhere as long as it's with you! Hee-hee-hee! I'm happy you shared your gift with me, but I think there are a whole lot of people out there who need this gift, so instead of keeping it to ourselves, 'cause that would be rude, let's share it with everyone!"

"Sounds great!" Lincoln told her with a smile "Just think - a whole city of happy elf kids! Everyone will have so much fun!" and with that, the two four-year-old elves hugged eachother lovingly. While hugging, they noticed that the entire house shrunk to fit their new size, and everything else became just right for them.

"This is so cool!" Lincoln told his love "I wonder: do you think our elf powers will grow stronger the more people are turned?"

"Only one way to find out!" she told him with an excited grin "Let's go out there and make some new friends! I'll race you to the door!" and with that, she ran off giggling. Not wanting to be outdone, he ran after her, giggling too.

They both reached the door at the same time. Both smiled and nodded at eachother, as they knew what they needed to do to make sure that everyone would have fun this Christmas.

Where will they go now?
