As the two four-year-old elves were about to step outside, Lincoln stopped.
"Hold the holly!" Lincoln said in realisation "We can't go outside looking like THIS!"
"Oh Lincoln, my love," Zoe replied as she turned to face him "you're absolutely right! What WERE we thinking?!"
The two then closed their eyes and focused, and as they did, their clothing changed into Christmas elf clothes. Lincoln now wore a green shirt with red shorts, his shirt sleeves and socks had red and white stripes, he wore a pointy green hat, and green elf shoes that curled up at the tips.
Zoe now wore a red shirt with a green skirt, here shirt sleeves and socks had green and white stripes, she wore a pointy red had, and red elf shoes that curled up at the tips.
When they opened their eyes, they smiled again, and looking at eachother, giggled.
"Now THAT'S more like it!" Lincoln told Zoe with a smile.
"I know, right?" Zoe happily replied "Now we're ready to spread some Chrismas cheer! Hee-hee-hee!"
So opening the door, they both stepped outside. Using their new powers, they redecorated their house so that it now looked more Christmas-themed.
What's more, snow appeared all around their house. Seeing the snow, they couldn't help but start having a snowball fight with eachother, but there was nothing mean about it - it was all good and playful fun, and neither of them really cared who "won". To them, this was the way a snowball fight was meant to be had.
They became so engrossed in their fun activity that they didn't notice a large crowd of people gathering to watch these two elf kids with, what the onlookers thought, were very realistic-looking nose and ear prosthetics. Some of the little kids thought they were real, and wanted to join in, but their parents wouldn't let them, thinking that to be wearing such prosthetics, they must be shooting a Christmas movie, or commercial at the very least.
One snowball thrown by Lincoln missed and hit an elderly black woman. Elizabeth, 74, was not too happy to be pelted like that, and marched over to give them a piece of her mind, but as she got closer, she found herself shrinking and growing younger. In only a matter of minutes, where an old cranky lady had once stood was now a playful four-year-old elf girl, complete with long pointy ears, a pointy nose, and Christmas elf clothes to match. Elizabeth now joined in on the snowball fight, and the other two elves had no objections.
The people watching this wanted to run, but Elizabeth saw them, smiled mischievously, and thew as many snowballs as she could at the onlookers, who soon joined in as happy little elf kids themselves.
With everyone in the immediate area turned, their combined magic spread out from themselves, and tranformed all the houses around them into smaller Christmas elf homes, and anyone inside those houses became four-year-old elves as well, who ran outside to join the snowball fight.
The wave of Christmas elf magic continued to spread outward, until it engulfed the whole city and everyone in it.
By the time Lincoln and Zoe sat down in the snow to rest, they looked around them and saw all the others. Everyone gathered around the two, and with huge grins, thanked them for such a fun game, and for the gift of what their new instincts told them was an eternal elf childhood.
"Thanks fo' decrankn' me, you two!" Elizabeth told them with a smile on her dark-toned cherubic face "I really needed that!"
"Anytime!" Lincoln replied with a smile.
"Happy to help, sister!" Zoe added with a smile of her own "Yes - sister! We're all brothers and sisters now, and all part of one big elf family! Hee-hee-hee! Still, we know there are more people out there who need us to share this gift with them."
"Then let's get online." Elizabeth happily suggested "I sent an e-vid to my family in another town, and now they're all elf kids too, spreading the joy of this gift to everyone over there."
"Great idea!" Lincoln told her "We'll be able to spread our gift much faster this way, and soon everyone will be part of our family. I know they'll love it just like we do."
So as the sun set that snowy day, all the elf kids went back inside their Christmas-themed houses, got on their laptops, and sent e-vids to all those they knew to share the gift.
Who will be the next person to recieve an e-vid to turn them into a happy elf kid?
