Amanda decided to test it on herself. After all, she didn't want to risk screwing up a strangers life. If she was gonna see what this thing could then she was the guinea pig.
She re-read the sentence again, and decided to se if she could be just a tad younger. She quickly changed "30" to "22" and closed her eyes. She felt a bit of vertigo hit her and when she opened her eyes up again she scrambled for her makeup mirror.
Amanda's jaw fully dropped and tears began to appear in the corners of her eyes. Staring back at her was her college aged face. She was practically a kid again. She had waisted her 20s partying and being a little slutty. This ended up screwing her over and she spent the last three years pulling her life together. She had been 30 by the time she got a stable job.
"Oh my god, I can fix my life." She thought happily. "Wait... why should I? If I can change reality, then I can just become 22 again every time things take an ugly turn!"
"Amanda are you on your phone?" Hailey growled as she walked over with anger in her eyes. Amanda thought fast and quickly selected Hailey.
"Honestly, they warned me this would happen for hiring young but did I listen? Noooo." She complained.
Amanda had pulled up a sentence for Hailey which read "An angry woman is walking towards you." Typing fast, she quickly changed woman to toddler.
Suddenly, Hailey seemed to vanish. Amanda looked around for a second before hearing a tiny grumble from below the desk. She looked down to find an adorable toddler with curly pigtails and a pink dress trying to hit Amanda.
"Mine!" She yelled. "Mine!" She said again reaching for Amanda's phone.
She easily held it away from her and tried not to laugh put loud.
"Oh my goodness!" A customer's voice rose before she ran over and picked up the child. "I am so sorry miss. Little Hailey here has just been going through her terrible twos. Hailey, apologize to the nice lady!"
"Sowwy." The toddler sighed, now looking more sad than mad.
"It's no problem. You be good for your mommy sweetie." Amanda cheerfully replied, pinching the girl's cheeks. She thought about changing Hailey back as the mother carried her out the door but ultimately she decided this would be good for her. "She was always a bit of a bitch," she thought "so maybe now she'll learn to be nicer."
Amanda quickly hid the phone as she spotted someone else rounding the corner. This time Latisha waked over to Amanda's desk. The beautiful Black woman looked more regal than usual, wearing a much more sparkly outfit and her afro was more well kept than usual. Amanda figured that she was the new boss.
"Hey hun, how are you doin?" She asked cheerfully. "Any first day jitters?"
"No boss, in fact I'm feeling better than ever!" Amanda cheerfully replied, brushing her pretty hair to the side.
"Great hun."
"E-excuse me, Miss Latisha?" Jennifer awkwardly asked as she rounded the corner. "I'm done with trash duty."
"Oh good, then would you mind cleaning some of the hair equipment?" Latisha asked.
"I wa-was hoping I could maybe cut again if-" She started before Latisha cut her off.
"Hun we've been over this. You gotta work on your jitters and image if you're gonna join full time." She gently reminded her.
"Yes ma'am." She replied sheepishly before walking off to presumably clean some brushes.
"Man, it kills me tah do that but I can't dodo anything else. She's just too inexperienced. I mean she's old obviously but this dream of hers is apparently new.... which sucks since I'm short two hair stylists!"
"You are?" Amanda asked concerned. She changed two of them but had they not been replaced?
"Yeah, I don't know why I should've been on this." She said sadly. "Hun I know it's your first day but do you mind calling up some of the numbers under "candidates" on your computer? It'd be a big help to get some replacements."
"Of course Latisha, anything for you!" Amanda said cheerily.
Latisha gave her a big smile before walking off. Amanda felt bad, as she loved Latisha and this studio but she didn't mean to mess it up this badly... She needed tog et replacement stylists. Amanda opened up the list and noted the major similarities between them all. Generally younger side women with experience were the only real qualifications.
"Well, I could call these people up... or I can get some right here." She thought looking over at the waiting area.
There were customers seated, some waiting to get a cut while others were clearly there waiting for family members.
There was a 50 year old blonde woman with fake big tits who was not paying much attention to her son, who was sitting there clearly embarrassed at being in such a girly place. He looked around 8 so he really didn't want to be there.
Next to them was a man who was constantly looking at his watch. He was graying a bit and clearly wanted to get out of there. As Amanda remembered he had come in with a pretty woman who was probably his wife. Near him was an old woman, almost 90 looking, who was eagerly waiting to get her hair done and to feel younger.
Across from them were the final people waiting. It was a latino cleaning lady who looked like she was on break inetween jobs. She looked only 30-ish but her stress wrinkles were obvious. Next to her was her pet dog who clearly was bored out of its mind. The poodle probably had no one to watch it so the poor woman had to take it with her.
Amanda surveyed the group, and figured some of them wouldn't mind having a new life as a young female hair stylist. The only question is, which two does she choose?
