Laura, still a bit off balance from the changes she had just undergone, pulls her coat off the nearby chair and sweeps the dice off the table in the motion. Her heart sinks into her stomach as they clatter to the floor. Before she even has time to fully process the implications, the spirits voice speaks once again.
"Thirty one years you have walked this Earth, now this number is but twenty one, each roll of the dice shall restore more of what you have lost."
"Oh crap!"
The changes this time are more extreme than in either previous roll. Droping back to her early adulthood, her clothes become baggy as she loses all the weight she had gained since graduating college. Left with the odd mixture of more energy she had felt in a long time as well as deep dread, Laura quickly scooped up the dice and returned them to their case. Just as she placed the case into her coat pocket she heard a voice behind her.
"Hey, what are you doing her alone so late young lady?"
She turns around to see Thomas the security guard. Her mind blanks as she struggles to come up with an explanation besides she was Laura but magical dice cut her age in over half.
"No need to look so frightened you aren't in any trouble. Interns just aren't allowed to be in the office without a supervisor outside of normal hours."
Intern. She didn't much like the sound of the demotion, but until she could get this mess sorted it was a good enough excuse as any.
"I'm sorry. I guess I was so wrapped in work I lost track of the time."
She tried not to wince as she heard her new youthful voice.
Thomas chuckles and then says, "Careful if you say things like that to your bosses you will be volunteered for all of the long shifts. Come on I'll walk you out to the parking lot."
Laura seeing not much of a choice, accepts the offer and is led out of the building. Once they reach the parking lot she thanks Thomas for being so understanding. He says goodbye and tells her she should probably get some work clothes of her own and not borrow her mother's. Laura breathes a sigh of relief and makes her way to her car only to then realize she left her purse with her keys, walket, and phone back in the office.
"Oh no, what am I going to do now?"
