Laura knew that Thomas wouldn't be so friendly if he caught to "intern" breaking into the building, so she had to figure something else out. She hoped to magic store was close but even if it was she had no idea how to get there. She did remember there was a mall a couple of blocks down the street. There at least she could find a computer to put the address into.
The walk was awkward, her clothes shifted oddly as she moved and her heels were definitely not the right size any longer. Laura wished she at least had her wallet so she could buy a less inconvenient outfit. Nevertheless, she did arrive at the mall without any further complications.
She was surprised to see quite a few tour buses parked outside. Once inside she found the passengers what looked to be large groups of elementary through high school students. She shuddered at the thought she was so close to being a peer. Out of curiosity she asked one of the chaperones the reason for the trip.
"Oh this is a pitstop before we get back on the highway. This is a school district wide trip to Washington D.C. There's still a long road ahead of us so we are letting the kids burn off some energy."
Laura wished the exhausted teacher good luck as she was yelling for her group to stick together. Laura then made her way to an electronics store and found a display model connected to the internet. After putting the address in she found out how much of a bind she was in.
"Of course it's halfway across the country! Being around the corner would just be too easy! How am I going to get to Washington D.C. without a car or money?"
She then recalled her earlier conversation and couldn't believe what she was considering. The overwhelmed chaperones might not notice one more tag along. Of course she was just too old to pass for a high schooler but maybe if she used the dice one more time... No! That's a terrible idea she'd be better off trying to get her purse back at the office. Right?
