"We've known each other for what?" Gray said. "Three months?"
"Four" Kyle piped in.
"Four months and you haven't even shown us your powers yet." That was false. Kyle experienced my power but he's unconscious at the time. But it still counts.
"You know I'm not showing it because of philosophical concerns," I said. It was the go-to reason for me not to show my powers unless necessary. It works most of the time but apparently, Gray is tired of my reasons.
"We all know that's bullshit." Even Kyle nodded behind him. "Just show it and we'll never tell anybody. Not even Quill." Quill is the boy he's been hitting on since class started. And so far, he's quite successful at keeping him close.
"Okay fine. But I won't show it until later this evening."
"Ohhhh..." Kyle cooed. "Is your power like night activated? Or maybe driven by the moon?" Kyle asked.
"Something like that,"

Later that evening, my buddies and I cleaned my dorm room and prepared for sleep. My bed was broken due to termites brought by next-door neighbor's entomantic powers so we're sleeping on the floor with futons. Kyle was nice enough to lend some of his pillows from his room. For the next few minutes, we talked about our repressed frustrations on our subjects. Kyle talked about the upcoming school festival and which booths are going to appear. He mentioned that the school is going to host a carnival-theme this year and the engineering department is going to build rides. Gray asked where he'll bring Quill, on a love tunnel or a coaster ride. I picked the coaster ride while Kyle picked the love tunnel. In the end, Gray decided to bring Quill on both rides.
A few minutes later, our conversation ended when Kyle yawned. He said his goodnights and so did I. We huddled in our futons and went to sleep. Well, except for me. I stared into the ceiling and waited for both of them to sleep. I waited until Kyle yawned like baby and Gray snored like there's something snuck inside his nose. And once I'm assured that they won't wake up, I left my futon and shook _______ awake.
