Vanessa continued her stroll towards the tree, continuing to take in the new sights and sounds around her. “No more cars and loud phone calls!”, she thought to herself taking in the pleasant songs of the birds and the comforting grunts of her far-off troop. She took a deep breath and looked at something off in the corner of her eye…
Vanessa stopped dead in her tracks... Her heart began to race as her primitive brain processed it. It was a big cat, well at least big to her off in the distance. Sharp saber teeth, but not as pronounced as bigger ones she remembered. Vanessa’s human mind identified it as a Dinofelis, but what mattered right now is that it was staring at her. Instincts kicked in as Vanessa began to grunt and scream to intimidate the cat. The Dinofelis just continued to stare even as her far off troop started to move and join in. Vanessa’s fight instincts were quickly turning to flight instincts the more she realized this wasn’t working. She noticed the cat beginning to move and bolted!
Vanessa’s mind raced as she could hear the cat closing in! Her first thought was to just stop and whack it, but her new mind reminded her that her troop lost a male that tried the same with a larger cat. It then hit her… THE TREE! She could climb up the tree for safety and whack the Dinofelis when it would try to climb after her! Vanessa turned herself towards the tree nearly tripping in the process. She turned her head for a split second to see the cat only a few yards away! She bit down on her branch and dropped on all fours to gain just a little more speed! Vanessa heart raced as she finally made it to the tree. She scaled it in mere seconds, grabbed her branch out of her mouth, and prepared for her attack. The Dinofelis struggled for a moment to scale the tree but was still approaching quickly.
WHACK
Vanessa bashed the cat’s head with all her might, nearly losing her balance in the process. The Dinofelis roared as it bled from of its right eye. Seeing it stunned and nearly losing its grip, she quickly wound up for another swing. Vanessa bashed the cat again and watched it fall out of the tree breaking its skull on a rock.
“Poor cat”, Vanessa thought to herself as she climbed down to examine her kill. It was very lucky she made it out alive, even more so that her killed the Dinofelis. Luckiest of all is that she didn’t lose her necklace in the mad dash for survival! After ogling at the shininess of her necklace, Vanessa squatted down and began to eat some splattered brain. Part of her still felt bad for the Dinofelis, but she also couldn’t help but to be proud of her kill.
