Before Scott was turned into Skyla, he had a cousin that, too, was into furry. But neither of them dared to speak of it in the old reality, so neither knew they shared this with each others.
Once reality was rewritten so Scott had always been a kitsune named Skyla, her history became a bit more complicated. Fearing she might someday become as horrible toward humans as some legends say, she took the habit to make the following habit: Propose to a humane couple unable to have children, whatever the reason, to turn herself into the child they'll never have.
Of course, she wouldn't do it with human she deemed unworthy, and her new adoptive parents knew she was an adult kitsune that only played the part of a vixen cub, using her powers to look the part, (if you excepted her number of tails) but all the parents she had trough the ages still loved her as their daughter and, to be honest, she loved them like they truly were her parents.
Not that she currently remembered all this, having memories of the old reality instead of the new one.
So, the man that just entered the mansion was technically still her cousin, even if only by adoption. Since it wasn't the first time he came to see is cousin, the staff let him enter without question. The thing is, Skyla's cousin was down his luck and wanted to have a last little chat with her before ending his life.
Before the change, he would have gone to Scott's, find the door closed, get back home and end his life without having the opportunity of a last chat. But here he somehow found himself in Curt's dining room and found the ray gun. At first he thought it was a toy for the kids living in the Evenson's mansion. But as he grabbed it, he accidentally activated its holographic configuration screen. Seeing it spoke of transformation, and remembering Skyla saying her ‘master’ was a fan of TF stories, he changed his mind, thinking it may be a toy for Mr. Evenson himself after all.
While he studied the parameters, he was thinking of his own fursona. Said imaginary character was a nine-tailed fox who had a phoenix for mother. (Don't ask why phoenix can have a child with a kitsune or how an odd couple could form.) From her mother, this fursona had inherited fur made of fire, but without burning anyone or anything unless she wished to, and the ability to be reborn from her ash if she died. Most of her fur looked like it varied between a bright yellow and a dark orange, almost red, the way an ordinary flame would but the ‘glove’ and ‘socks’ looked more like a blue flame, while the tip of her tails were a white that should, by all right be blinding but somehow isn't. (Unless she wish it to be blinding, that is.)
Another particularity of Skyla's cousins' fursona is that she is supposed to have been born not long after homo-sapiens appeared on a world that could be earth as scientists said it was formed, meaning without the intervention of any god. Paradoxically, she grew so powerful she became this world first divinity. …And that was only when she grew her 6th tail. Even millennia after her 9th tail grew her power is still growing, so much that she alone is more powerful than every other god that appeared since then put together, making her their leader de-facto leader, to her great displeasure. (She grew up as a simple Kunoichi, not her clan's next leader! And now she needed to lead a whole pantheon of gods?!?)
That said, before she became a goddess, once humanity had formed its first civilizations, she met a human and fell in love with him. Of course he was gone in what felt like the blink of an eye to her, but she still cherished the time passed with him. …And since she became a goddess in the time between their first date and his death, she is able to track each of his reincarnations and make everything in her power to make said reincarnations happy, even when it mean let him marry someone else.
Although she had the secondary objective to make each incarnation of her beloved accept what was their true place in the scheme of thing: The title of Emperor of the World. A position no version of that humble person she loved so much would ever accept, of course.
As he had finished selecting his settings, having chosen adorable, change awareness, and target’s favorite for both the ‘maid clothing/nude’ and ‘species’ menu. He then turned the gun toward himself and, thinking it would do nothing, fired imagining he would become his fursona.

Having been informed that her adoptive cousin was there by Pam, Head Maid Skyla was walking toward the dining room at a brisk pace, grumbling all the way. Upon entering said room, the vixen saw her cousin pointing the ray-gun toward himself, pulling the trigger. She screamed his name, "Thomas !" but it was too late.
The plastic gun shoot out its laser, touching Thomas. As he changed, a blinding light emanated from him and rapidly encompassed all the planet.
