"Well, come on," Jude said. "We'd better make our way back to the plane. Who knows, maybe Skye's back there already, wondering what happened to us."
"Yeah," you agreed, needing to hold on to anything, any little shred of hope. You lifted yourself off from the tree you'd been leaning against and almost immediately regretted it. "Whoah," you said, a palm out to steady yourself on the trunk. "Dizzy." The world was spinning in your vision and you had to close your eyes.
"Dude, take it easy. Sit down," Jude said, easing you to the ground. "You all right? You don't look so good."
"Don't feel so good, either," you said, the understatement of the century. You lifted a clammy palm to your forehead and felt cold sweat across your brow. Risking opening your eyes again, you saw that everything had stopped spinning, but things looked different, like the colors of the world had faded a little bit. "I think I need to sit for a bit. You go. I'll be fine."
Jude, to his credit, looked extremely doubtful. "There's something massive out here that already attacked you once and you say you'll be fine? Don't think so." He folded his arms and planted his feet.
"No, man, you gotta go. See if Skye is back at the plane. If not, someone's gotta warn everyone about what's out here. I'll just slow you down. Go."
