Shawna bent over the computer. She could use the Chronivac's psychological programs to do a deep scan of her mind, and display the results. There were indications that whole areas of her psyche weren't being allowed access to her consciousness. Further inspection revealed that those areas formed a coherent personality, larger, more complex, and more deep-rooted than her conscious personality.
I'm not real, Shawna thought. No, I won't let that happen.
Danitru was in the kitchen making hamburgers while Jayutah was practicing her old weapons skill with a knife she had found. This world had good steel, if not much else that interested her.
"OK." Shawna announced. "I think I know what to do. The Sean personality--me"--she swallowed hard "isn't a separate person. It's an aspect of Shawna that developed in response to her current situation. I think I can use the Chronivac, not to suppress Sean or destroy it, but to reintegrate it back into Shawna."
"As you wish, my Queen." Jayutah responded. Danitru, who was bringing a plate of food from the kitchen, put it down and walked over to Shawna, and embraced her. "That's a brave and noble thing to do. Just like the Shawna I love."
Shawna's finger hovered over the enter key. "I may go crazy if the integration doesn't work well. I don't think so, but it's possible." She closed her eyes, and her finger stabbed downward.
