Laura puts some distance between herself and the office before stopping to pull out her phone. She's in the middle of typing in the magic stores address when she spots two police officers talking to a woman.
She overhears one saying, "We're looking for a girl around 8 years old, bright pink jacket possibly carrying a women's purse."
The woman shakes her head and the officers move on.
"Kid's advanced for her age I'll give her that. Played that office woman for a fool with the weepy, lost child routine."
"Yeah, kid's going places. Juvie for one."
The two laugh, and start heading down the street in Laura's direction. Laura groans at the idea of being arrested for stealing her own property and decides she needs to lie low. She looks for a place to blend in and spies a Chuck E. Cheese. Perfect the cops will never notice an extra kid there.
She turns to head towards the entrance when the officers notice her. They shout for her to stay where she is. She doesn't. Instead she tosses her purse, bolts across the restaurant's parking lot, and slips inside. She heads towards the crowded play area, pulling of her coat after grabbing the dice, and tries to insert herself into one of the groups of kids. Unfortunately, in her rush she selected a group of boys a few years older than her current age.
"Hey who is this brat?"
"Is it one of your little sister's friends Tommy."
"No clue, never seen her before."
"I'm Laura, don't make a big scene I'm trying to hide from..."
"Who do you think you are telling us what to do? Scram go bug someone your own age."
Laura opens her mouth to protest, but before she can say anything one of the boys shoves her. She topples into the nearby ball pit and the dice go flying out of her hands. As she sinks beneath the balls, she spots one of the officers pointing her way and she hears the spirit speak.
