Blinking back her tears, Laura tries to reassert control over herself. She only has minimal success and heads back upstairs to see if there's anything among the toddler supplies that will help calm her down. She finds as she climbs up, her long hair keeps getting in her face making the task of navigating the stairs at her size even harder.
Once she makes it back to the master bedroom she looks through the boxes and finds things that will help with both her problems. For her hair, she finds a hair tie with a large bow the same color as her diaper cover. She uses it to put her hair back into a ponytail. In the same box she finds a similarly bright yellow pacifier. She sticks it in her mouth without much second thought and immediately feels her body start to calm down.
She wipes the her eyes dry and uses a tissue to clean up the snot she finds has escaped her nose while see was crying. She reassures herself that she'll figure this out then gets the the job of sorting through the boxes for anything else that may help over the next week.
She decides to set herself up in Alexis' room. For some reason, claiming the master bedroom just doesn't feel right. She moves the pack of diapers and a few sets of clothes over there first. Then she locates a box of old toys which she drags over, not entirely sure why she feels the need to. Finally, she finds of box of sippy cups, plastic plates, and other toddler utensils which she moves piece by piece to the kitchen.
Just as she finishes doing that she feels her stomach growl. That's right she never got dinner during all the excitement. Laura has to use a stepping stool to climb onto the counter before she can reach the freezer. She finds a open bag of chicken nuggets and throws some in the microwave. While they're heating up, she carefully fills a sippy cup with juice and retrieves dressing from the fridge.
Once her food is done, she finds she's too short to sit at the table without a booster seat, so she heads to the living room. After turning on the tv, she finds the most comfortable seat to be on the ground in front of it. She goes to take a sip of juice but finds the pacifier is blocking her mouth. She considers the fact she completely forgot about it before she removes it and sets the drool covered object on the coffee table. She then starts on her meal.
Watching TV as she eats, she had initially put on the news but finds it as boring as she did when she was an adult. She flips through a few channels before ending up on Seasame Street. She is going to change the channel but finds herself enraptured by the program and soon forgets her intention.
