Laura goes to retrieve her phone. She finds the cat curled up on her purse though. She can't help but stick her tongue out at and half scold, half whine at the cat.
"Freddy you meanie. I didin wanna be widdle."
She clasps her hands over her mouth. Great her verbal skills are about a match for her potty training. The cat seems less freaked out by the toddler than he was the teenager. He also doesn't seem particularly fazed by her words, as he walks up and rubs against her. Laura bursts into giggles, finding herself much more ticklish now.
The cat wanders off and Laura regains her composure. Reaching into her purse she pulls out her phone. The first notification she sees is a message from Kaitlin. Apparently before she got back to the office she got a call that her mother was in the hospital and she had to leave town in a hurry to get there. There goes any chance of getting help from her.
Laura sends a sympathetic message and goes to pull up information on the magic store. Looks like the bad news isn't done. The store is apparently closed for the day and all of next week. Her brother isn't going to be back until after then too.
Feeling completely alone, Laura feels tears welling up in her eyes. How is a toddler supposed to take care of herself for a week?
