Linda looked closer at the mirror - it looked like she needed to shave! She'd never noticed it before, but there was a thick fuzz on her face, and the longer she looked it seemed to get thicker. After a moment, she realized what was happening.
Linda looked down. Her hands and feet had turned to paws, equipped with sharp claws. Her fur was thick, patterned white and brown, while a tuft of red fur sat on her head. Her torso and neck had elongated somewhat, and her limbs were a little shorter, but she still felt broadly human.
Assuming this to be some sort of elaborate fever dream, she decided to start exploring. Slinking around the hallway, she looked at her family photos - every one else was a human just as yesterday, but she was a weird rat. She stepped into the kitchen, to find her perfectly normal human mother.
At least, until she blinked. Her mother had, within a moment, transmogrified into a rat just like Linda. She was wearing the same bathrobe, but now she was weaving and bobbing about the kitchen - apparently not noticing the transformation. She turned her head around, noticing her daughter.
"Glad to see you up so early! Breakfast will be on the table in a few minutes..."
Her mother couldn't see anything wrong. Looking back at the family photos on the walls, Linda saw both her and her mother in new forms (which, based on her idle chatter, seemed to be anthropomorphic ferrets). AS the rest of her family filtered in, they all transformed into their new ferret bodies. After wolfing down breakfast, she grabbed her bag and tumbled out the door, where she found her best friend, Polly.
Polly had always been a bit of a rebel, with her hair dyed a striking red and a nose piercing (well, a fake, but Polly says it really hurts). Of course, in the next moment, she had transformed into a...
