Samantha turns the ring over in her hands. There's no way it could really grant wishes. It probably was flimsy metal and fake rubies. Just a trinket for gullible kids to blow their birthday on.
"So how does it work?"
"Well you just put it on and say the words "I wish" then whatever you say after that happens. You need to finish the sentence quickly, if you take a breath or pause to long it will grant the partial wish. Oh and best to be specific otherwise the ring will have to guess what you mean."
Samantha laughs to herself. Yep wishes work just like any children's story book says they do, of course. She slips it on her finger and thinks of something to "wish" for. Well she's supposed to drive up to attend her cousin's bachelorette party today. She'd certainly love to skip the several hour drive.
"So I would just say I wish I was at my cousin's house and then..."
"...I'd be there?" Samantha's eyes go wide as she looks around and finds herself in her cousin's living room. Her cousin, Diana, and her maid-of-honour, Rachel, are setting up decorations seemingly unconcerned that Samantha just materialized out of thin air.
"Be where?" Diana asks.
"Oh...nevermind I lost my train of thought."
"Alright then. By the way, thanks again for driving up early to help set up."
Samantha looks at the ring and marvels at the power she now possesses. Anything she wants can now be true and no one will even notice the difference. She also realizes she technically stole the magic ring. Best address that before an angry wizard comes looking for her. She excuses herself to the restroom and makes a new wish.
"I wish I had paid for this ring."
She opens her banking app and sees the charge for the ring now sat among transactions for gas and food from her "drive" up. Relieved that was dealt with she wonders just what she should wish for next.
Meanwhile the cashier notices the appearance of the payment, "Well she's certainly more thoughtful than most who get out of here before paying. Now I feel bad I didn't have a chance to warn her that wishes can't be reversed though. Oh well, her fault for not waiting for a full explanation. Besides she'll figure it out eventually. Maybe even before getting herself in too tricky a situation."
