Laura looks over her shoulder just in time to see the movie theater employee accidentally kick the dice under a shelf.
“Nine and seven years you have walked this earth. Now these numbers are but five and two. Each roll of the die shall return more of what has been lost.”
Kaitlin grabs Laura and drags her towards the fitting rooms. Locking themselves inside they find their adult shirts slip off as they drop to their early childhood. Soon all that remains of the two friends is a naked kindergartner and toddler.
"You think we loth him?" Kaitlin asks frowning at the return of her childhood lisp.
"Me dunno," Laura's speech skills seem to have fallen as well.
The two wait with their ears to the door. Thankfully they don't hear the man approaching. Either they gave him the slip or he gave up. Sighing in relief Kaitlin looks Laura up and down.
"I'll go get uth thome new clotheth wait here."
"No leave," Laura wanted to say "without me" but the full phrase was beyond her reach.
"Ith ok I'll be right back."
Laura sits on the bench pouting while Kaitlin sneaks out. Laura finds her thumb naturally move to her mouth for comfort and soon feels the bench growing wet. Looking down confused she realizes she's had an accident. Before she can do anything, Kaitlin returns with a pile of clothes.
Wrinkling her nose she exclaims, "Groth Laura. You're not thuppothed to be a real baby."
Laura just blushes in response. Kaitlin gets herself dressed first. She slips on a plain white shirt, pulls up cartoon print undies and a pair of bright pink overalls, and slides on a headband to hold her hair back. Laura's mouth hangs open as the illusion of a kindergartner becomes complete.
"Thop looking at me like that. There wathn't time to look around for thomething better."
The girl pulls Laura to her feet and dries her off using one of the oversized shirts. Laura then watches in horror as she buttons shut a cloth diaper around her waist. She also realizes there's no other clothes for her.
"Where more?"
"Thorry there'th no baby clotheth here, tho I thole that from a woman'th diaper bag."
Kaitlin then takes Laura by the hand and leads her out of the fitting room.
"No letth go find thothe dithe."
