Edwin was bracing for the worst and expected to hear that he would have to be supervised by Ms. Caldwell again. "I called Ms. Caldwell, but she is at a wedding and can't come over tonight," his mother announced, much to his relief, "So I've asked Aaron to babysit and he'll be here in less than an hour." Edwin's heart dropped as soon as he heard Aaron's name and headed straight for the Chronivac as soon as his mom left the room. As grateful as he is for not having to deal with Ms. Caldwell, Edwin is shocked that Aaron, who was his best friend from when he was older, is looking after him instead.
New memories about Aaron started flooding Edwin's mind. Turns out that Aaron was still a friend to the family but saw Edwin as more of a kid brother in this reality. Edwin had always liked hanging out with Aaron and he had always looked up to him. Edwin's older mindset snapped him out of thinking Aaron as a role model, which scared him as Edwin was beginning to think more like a kid. Still, he was having fun as a 10 year old and thought he could use the Chronivac on Aaron. The kid in Edwin wanted to mess with him for tonight, but his older mindset only wanted Aaron to recognize him from his older life.
Edwin waited to scan Aaron until he arrived. He grabbed the portable emitter as Aaron was greeted at the door by Edwins mother, trying not to get spotted by either of them. The scan was successful and Edwin ran to his room while inputting the change on Aaron. He then waited for his parents car to leave the driveway before activating the change, which he did just as he was approaching Aaron. Almost instantly, Aaron was hit with what he would describe as the worst migraine of his life. It did last no longer than a minute, but it did flood Aaron's mind with memories of his friendship with Edwin, and recalled that Edwin was not at school that day. He then looked at the boy he recognized as Edwin and gave him a puzzled look.
"Edwin? Is that really you man?" Aaron asked, to which Edwin nodded, "How can that be? You're supposed to be turning 17 in less than a month but you're a kid. This isn't making any sense!" "Actually, there's something I have to show you," Edwin replied, finding it weird that he is now looking up at Aaron, "Remember that Chronivac I told you about?" "Like, every other day," Aaron replied, "You and Dawn were obsessed with that stupid thing." "Well, it arrived yesterday. It's in my room if you wanna see" Edwin offered.
Aaron was skeptical about the Chronivac and thought the program was bogus, but he wanted to play along in case this was some sort of prank. Aaron recognized the layout of the house, but was shocked to see Edwins room as it is now. Aside from the Chronivac ads, it looked every bit like a kids bedroom, complete with toys on the floor, a twin-sized bed with a colorful bedspread and a childproofed computer that somehow still contained the Chronivac. Edwin then pulled up his profile on the Chronivac and Aaron saw Edwins current stats.
Name: Edwin Dias
Age: 10 years, 11 months
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Height: 4'4
Weight: 75 lbs
Alongside his profile, Edwin also showed Aaron a log of the changes he made since yesterday. Aaron didn't recognize any Mr. Ortiz, but somehow recognized Jack Russell. "Is that Jack Russell?" Aaron asked, to which Edwin nodded, "As in, Jack Russell from Clover Elementary? Jenna's dopey little brother?" "Yep," Edwin replied, "He was in my class and he was a total jerk to the other kids, but now that he's not so tough, he could learn a lesson or two." "Turned him into a nerd, huh?" Aaron replied, "At least he won't be bothering Jenna anymore."
What stood out of Aaron the most was Edwins change. "Wait, you're now a kid because you turned into one?" Aaron asked. "Yes I did," Edwin answered, "I wanted to see if the Chronivac worked before using it on anyone else, and it's also fun to be a kid again." Aaron was shocked at Edwins response, that not only did he voluntarily turn into a kid and return to Clover but also enjoyed his return to childhood. "Sorry man, it's just too strange," Aaron stated as he backed away from his younger friend, "This doesn't sound like the Edwin I know at all. I mean, you're just a shrimp now and you took yourself back to...what grade are you in now?" "Fifth" "Fifth grade?! I don't want to lose you as a friend, but this just isn't right!" Aaron exclaimed. He did have a point, Edwin thought. He turned himself into the shrimp Aaron remembered being friends with since the second grade while Aaron was still in high school, and the age difference was scaring Aaron. "Well, maybe I can make this right somehow" Edwin stated. "Well, there is one way..." Aaron replied while looking down at the boy.
