Now the dragon was the old fashioned kind of western dragon flamebreather
however he did seem to have a knack for self survival and over
the next three centuries Jeff kinda figured out by the
succession of elf, dwarf ,orc ,goblin and human champions
and not so champions that his owner defeated, killed and ate
or sometimes transformed into maidens that
he wasn't going to be claimed by a (un)Champion anytime soon.
It was sometime in the middle of Jeff's fourth century of his
term as a magical sword that the crusty old dragons niece
Grinelda came visiting her uncle again. She had come at
other times but had never noticed Jeff the Sword because at
those earlier times Jeff had been buried under 10,000
silver pieces from the legendary Mint of Midas.
This time however the now more aged dragon, who was sick
and tired of (un) Champions constantly invading his cave and
challenging him to a Fight to the Death, had the legendary Sword out and was admiring and polishing it,with half thoughts about
needing to learn swordplay to protect himself from all those
pesky (un) Champions.
So it was that niece Grinelda, who was a modern hip anthro dragoness
came traipsing into the cave and noticed her Uncle Phizer
and the Enchanted sword.
Uncle Phizer immediately tried to hide Jeff the Sword and then
went off to another cavern to fetch his niece some tea and muffins.
Whilst the old dragon was thus occupied Grinelda fished out
Jeff from under the pile of 10,000 silver pieces and studied
him with interest.
Grinelda, being a modern hip dragoness, had taken a interest into the human form ( that's how she spent her time as
a anthro dragoness rather then her true feral form )
and thus immediately realized Jeff was a human enchanted into
the shape of a sword.
So Grinelda fished around in her purse for the right potion
and spellbook, and before Uncle Phizer was halfway making the
tea his niece had turned Jeff back into his human self.
Grinelda just stood there admiring her spell casting and after
400 odd years of lying under 10,000 silver pieces from the
legendary Mint of Midas
Jeff was a bit sore in the back.
It was the sound of the tea tray, tea cups and tea kettle smashing
to pieces on the stone floor,as well as a startled roar from
doddering Uncle Phizer, that alerted Jeff and Grinelda that the
aging dragon was back in the cave.
"Another BLEEP'g (un) Champion" roared Uncle Phizer
who frantically dug under the 10,000 silver pieces for the now
no longer a sword Jeff.
It was at this time that the three dwarves came rushing in.....
